I'm not even supporting shamnesty.. there's too much money involved to do that. I'm sticking with my opinion on the guest worker program.

I assume the bienvinedos signs were to welcome the legal Somali immigrants who will now be earning almost three times as much doing the same work for the same job? I could be wrong though, since I don't speak SPANISH!

I don't know enough about the programs to speak on it. If you look through my posts, most of them have to do with discrimination and irrational fear too many people have of illegal immigrants.

Well, okay. Agreed on that point... I think... can't really tell what you're saying there. I agree if you're mocking the extremist notion that people should be able to stay and work in the USA without getting visas and paying taxesx, as that's not fair from a global standpoint. What country allows people to come in and take employment without a visa and tax deduction? It's a simple matter of fairness being achieved under the law. Nobody is entitled to amnesty on the mere basis that they found a better opportunity in another country.

Are you pro-amnesty? Then I disagree, for the reason just stated.

I'd venture to say that the application for working visas - as well as citizenship - should be more accessible and reasonable and less exclusive, but at that point immigrants should be able to integrate into the culture and economy they've joined. I have no problem with making way for and even accepting some of their culture (my sister married into a Mexican family and they've since improved my own family's filial bond and they throw AWESOME events), but when it comes down to it, I want them reporting to the same tax/legal/etc. system to which I am subject. Welcome to America, where everyone is considered EQUAL. That's where supporters of amnesty and minutemen get it all wrong. People are WELCOME and people are EQUAL under the law and by our founders' intentions.

Of course, I'm aware that there is, in practice, no equality under the law in this world, but I'm just saying... we don't need more people who want special treatment and entitlement... we've already got the super-rich sucking away at the system on that notion.

Great post. I am pro deportation, attrition through enforcement, cut off all freebies and abolish the 14th anti-illegal.

Illegal immigrants should all go to jail and forced to work in slave like conditions for minimum wage until they raise enough money to pay for their own jail food, and a plane ticket home.

The Sheriff is doing that already, but not just with illegals, all inmates. English classes are taught for them to learn basic English as well. Also, they're not being paid but they are working in chain gangs.

As far as I know, this is not unique. Well, the tent cities perhaps --- but having inmates work for money to buy toilet paper and soap as well as candy and magazines is pretty much par for the course, both at the state and federal levels. I believe that all inmates get is free food (and of course lodging ) but that is it.
