Cardinal Mahony advises McCain & Obama to make immigration reform at priority. Sounds like both candidates side-step the issue.

Too bad Mahoney didn't choose to get involved with the problem of pedophiles in his diocese, or maybe Mahoney doesn't have much interest in the laws of this country for anything.

I think we should stop listening to that propaganda and hear the word "reform" for what it is : "amnesty" and "open borders".

Perhaps Mahony should pause to remember there is a seperation of church and state for a reason. Besides that who cares what he wants, thinks or feels?
As someone said he needs to concern himself with those priests who just can't fight that feeling anymore.

If Mahoney wants to help people in poor countries, then he should encourage the Church to do so. Seems no one minds taking up the collection plates in Mexico. If the church wants to establish humanitarian programs in Mexico (or wherever) then they should - and have.

How about Mahoney - and anyone else who is so concerned with Mexico - putting out press releases demanding that the MEXICAN LEADERS reform their own government of the corruption that has allowed their own citizens to live in poverty???? How about that? How about requesting the leaders of Mexico provide education, healthcare and jobs for the people who elected them?

Mexico has its own government. Let the government of Mexico take care of its people. I pay taxes here in the USA and God knows . . . my pay check gets chopped up w/ taxes wh/ pay for the entitlement programs that are supposed to help CITIZENS here.

Let Mahoney talk to the Vatican and see if the Vatican wants to underwrite education, healthcare and jobs in Mexico. They sure have a presence there and the Vatican surely has the $$$$. If Mahoney is so concerned - let his professional cohorts come up w/ the jack to change things in Mexico.

Such arrogance!!!
