The situation wouldn’t be so absurd if Mexifornia could cut back on the generous welcome mat for illegal aliens, like the continuing permissiveness when other states are cracking down, a city (San Francisco) that has advertised for foreigners to use its welfare services, in-state tuition for illegals, etc. ad nauseum.

Even Hollywood understands that “If you build it, they will come.”

And yes, the billions of dollars for the water bond are indeed another immigration tax, because California would not need such extreme infrastructure expenditures if Washington-mandated overpopulation policies had not been acting as growth steroids.

Yet Ahhnold cuts the jobs and salaries of Americans to accomodate the rights of the gang banging illegal alien population. Yeah . . . that makes a lot of sense, only if you're an illegal alien or an idiot.

The situation in CA is beyond absurd. In addition to this crisis, they are also eliminating thousands of jobs, and decreasing the wages of an estimated 200,000 down to the federal minimum wage. How are these workers expected to provide for their families when their wages are being drastically reduced?

Quote:
With the state budget now a month late and cash reserves dwindling very quickly, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-California) apologized for signing the order that lays off thousands of part-time and temporary workers this first round, and slashes the pay of 200,000 employees to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 an hour.

"It is a terrible situation to be in. I don't think any governor wants to be in this situation," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "But this is the only way out."

Take a hard look at what is happening in Cali, cause this is just the first wave of what is going to happen all over this country unless states start enacting laws to punish employers who give jobs to illegals . . . and unless the citizens of this country elect officials who agree that we must stop this problem AT THE BORDER.

If that isn't anti-American then I sure don't know what is. It is of course but CA has been a lost cause for some time now.

The problems in California stem from imbalanced political ideologies - way too many Democrats in one state (both voters and politicians) - social programs cost money people. California has run a budget deficit for the past 10 years - even in a good economy. Can you believe this state has the 7th largest economy on the planet? Immigrants compound the problem, but being too loose with one's purse strings is going to take down any state - whether illegals dominate or not. When was the last time you've heard a major company who actually WANTS to move to California (remember Boeing? CA was last on their list - taxes are too high).

Arnold is trying to force Repubs. and Dems to come to a compromise and pass a budget (or the deficit will go higher because there's no money to pay for everything). Repubs don't want to raise taxes and want to cut programs (surprise) and Democrats want to keep the programs and raise taxes on the rich (also a surprise) - neither party is moving. That's why they are in this pickle. Most (if not all) of the job cuts are part-time and it saves over a Billion a month - instead of costing California a Billion a month (which we don't even have). That's the way I understood it, but I could be wrong.

I still keep having the feeling (and it is growing) that when the people of California turn against the illegals-------it will be sudden and very ugly.

Messing with one's wages when working for the government may just be the 'tipping point'------people are likely to explode @ the illegals getting their freebies when the former are gasping financially.

Agreed, I also agree with what Anifani said. The insanity continues . . .

It's almost inevitable and in almost any pluralistic society it almost always takes some sort of social clash to gain the attention for social reform. It's a pity but that's just how it works. Not only California but all of the border states are only starting to brew.

Good reasonable post... at least you are not trying to blame it all on illegal immigrants as some want to.
