Just what we need.....more homeless. If these people are unable to find illegal work in this country, they need to pack their bags and return home. Our homeless shelters and soup kitchens are already crowded, and under-funded.

I'm sorry, but charity begins at home. We have thousands of veterans who served our country and fought in wars, sleeping on crates and park benches. We must help them first.

The national immigration debate has reached people on the farthest margins of society in New Jersey.

In long-term encampments from the woods of southern New Jersey to the congested northern end of the state, an increasing number of immigrant day laborers are joining the ranks of the homeless.

Swear to God, I've never seen what looked like illegal immigrant-looking people sleeping on the streets or panhandling.

It's ironic, no? I'm sure many of these immigrants had the same type of life in their home country. They may be comfortable here, living in boxes and cooking scraps on a fire outside. Yeah, not good at all.

ITA, they were probably homeless in Mexico and wherever else they came from anyway. That being said, it's bad enough they have no respect for living Americans, but damn they could at least respect the dead:

In northern New Jersey, more than 100 homeless immigrant day laborers were found to be camping out in a North Bergen graveyard.
Do these people have any respect or dignity at all?

Yah, they were probably homeless and managed to sell enough chiclets, and panhandle enough dough to pay the coyote to cross them. That mustve taken them a good 20 years.

Or managed to cross by themselves with the help of a map from Vicente Fox or Calderon. Happens all the time.

why come here to try and make it big by living those conditions

Why not just live those conditions in their own countries, and try to make it big there

They at least have family and speak the language there
