Sheriff's department spokesman Randy Jones said late Monday afternoon he understands the defendant did temporary or part-time work for the county. He didn't know what type of work he did.
The release says the review led to the discovery that the Social Security number the defendant was using belonged to a resident of Laredo, Texas. The release says a review of the victim's credit history, as well as of Social Security and tax information, is being conducted.
The release says interviews with the defendant indicate that he purchased the Social Security number and an apparently counterfeit card at an "unconfirmed business location." It also says the defendant is in the country illegally.
The sheriff's department release says the defendant's bond was $20,000 and that he is still being held in the county jail.

I guess he no longer wanted to do a job that an American won't do. Besides, the county probably pays better.

I'm sure he really didn't know he had done anything wrong. He probably thought everyone in this country is required to “buy” their social security card.

Exclamation Nearly the same situation.

http://media.newsobserver.com/smedia/2008/07/30/01/86-reg-1991232-1284805.embedded.prod_affiliate.3.jpg (broken link) In Alamance County, North Carolina this young woman was recently arrested because she was using a deceased woman's Social Security number. She was working as a librarian and was arrested when her crime was discovered. There have been some concerns about the way her illegal status and criminal activities were uncovered because it is believed she may have been fingered by medical records. But however she was found out, the fact remains that not only has she committed the crime of entering our country illegally, she has also committed a felony by using the deceased person's SS#.
Recently on the news an apparently illegal resident was put on the news so that he could express his outrage at the fact that she was arrested and not simply turned over to immigration. He then staged a big press event where he went to the local sheriffs dept. and declared to them he was illegal and would they like to arrest him. He was not arrested. And you know why, because while he is a criminal he did not commit a felony crime like the above criminal.
If a US citizen commits this type of crime, they will be punished. So what makes illegals and their advocates feel like this girl has been mistreated. I don't care if she is cute or that they only show pictures of her with her adorable baby. It doesn't change the fact that she is a criminal and is being held according to the laws of OUR land. The only thing that seems to be a real shame is that they let the illegal fellow who turned himself in go. He put on a news worthy performance and expressed his anger about the travesty that has taken place. Only problem is, he hasn't got a leg to stand on and neither does she. It's a shame it had to come to this for her, but it did not have to be this way. The blame is hers, not ours.
