Sassyone, you are commenting on this thread by referencing another totally unrelated thread. Rather than respond to the comments directed at you -- you have gone on a tangent. This is not the thread on the hypothetical war with Mexico.

The “war” thread you are referencing was intended to be a hypothetical scenario. You know, not real. Therefore, the responses were also intended to be hypothetical. I even mentioned nuking them. Sassyone, it isn’t real. That thread was simply Fantasy Island. Calm down.

This thread relates to a moratorium on immigration. You were trying to justify your support for lawlessness. Remember?
I can see you opted for the grey hairs. It's not too late! You can still add her to your list - trust me it won't get better.

It depends on what your definition of "non" is.

Umm, no.
Legal immigrants get visas. Then they become citizens.
Take a look at this page talking about visa choices for immigrants.
Immigrants to the U.S.
If they are here for tourism, visiting familiy, etc... I would agree with you. People here for a matter of years are immigrants. Many of those with visas intend to get greencards.

The illegals moving in don't speak English, filling the schools will only require Spanish speaking teachers so we don't need to bring in the brightest talent for that.

GM and the other big corporations are failing. Banks are closing. Manufacturing in this country is history. Hospitals are closing or having to find ways to cut back on services and costs.
Economies are based off more than just manfacturing. Manufacturing allows you to move from a poor to middle income status. A rich county such as ours is based of innovation and skilled labor. Manufacturing is secondary.

Voters paying attention to this issue know that since 2000, an estimated 10 million to 12 million immigrants have arrived, representing the highest seven-year period of immigration in U.S. history. If immigration were to continue at this rate, the nation's population would increase from 301 million today to 468 million in 2060, a 56 percent increase.

Research on the impact this is having on the U.S. economy reveals that Americans are spending between $11 billion and $22 billion on welfare to illegal immigrants each year by state governments. Of this, $2.2 billion a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps and free school lunches.

An estimated $2.5 billion a year is spent on Medicaid.

Approximately $12 billion is spent on primary and secondary school education for children that are here illegally, many of whom cannot speak English.

Thirty percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal immigrants.

Native-born Americans are losing an estimated $200 billion in wages that have been driven down by the influx of illegal immigrants.
Meanwhile, over the past five years, illegal immigrants sent home remittances estimated to be between $25 billion and $45 billion to their countries of origin.

Guest opinion: U.S. needs moratorium on virtually all immigration | ONLINE EXCLUSIVE

Nothing new, just what we've been saying all along.
All bunch of lies!! Won't expect nothing less from the anti immigrant crowd though!

First lie
Thirty percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal immigrants.
Quote:
data from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The bureau's latest inmate population report stated that as of May 26, 2007, 73.5 percent of federal prisoners are U.S. citizens and 20.8 percent are noncitizens -- not just illegal immigrants -- from Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, while the citizenship status of 5.7 percent of the federal prison population is recorded as "Other/Unknown
Colorado Media Matters - Boyles touted as "study" an email collection of anti-immigration activist falsehoods and unsubstantiated assertions

Second lie
Approximately $12 billion is spent on primary and secondary school education for children that are here illegally, many of whom cannot speak English.

Quote:
The Federation for American Immigration Reform says taxpayers spend $12 billion a year on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally. Another $17 billion for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies
CNN.com - Transcripts

This is from the original source from Lou dobbs, the only problem is FAIR is an anti immigrant group and just because they said doesn't make it true. Apparently someone has added their own little "fact" about these kids not being able to speak english!LOL

Third lie Native-born Americans are losing an estimated $200 billion in wages that have been driven down by the influx of illegal immigrants.

Quote:
DOBBS: That economy, we know the estimates by the most authoritative and recent study put the suppressed wages at $200 billion a year, as a result of immigration, both legal and illegal.
CNN.com - Transcripts

Lou dobbs spreading his lies once again without providing any facts to back it up. Lou Dobbs says it so it must be true?

4th An estimated $2.5 billion a year is spent on Medicaid.

Center for Immigration Studies

That was another "study" done by another anti immigrant think tank, so guess what the results of it would be?

Then perhaps you can explain the rationale behind your 'humane' solution of giving amnesty (by whatever name you want to call it) to millions of overwhelmingly uneducated, unskilled illegal aliens?

Excellent question! It certainly appears to be a contradiction.

So I take it that just because YOU say it's all lies we're supposed to believe you over FAIR and Lou Dobbs?? I can live with rounding 27% to 30%, pro-illegals CONTINUALLY count legal immigrants when it suits their agenda.

What's good for the goose and all that, you know?
