From the Desk of Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton:

Judicial Watch Launches All-out Public Campaign Against Sanctuary Policies for Illegal Aliens and Requests Your Participation

I've been talking to you for several months about state and local "sanctuary policies" which not only prohibit many local police officers from checking an individual’s immigration status, but also prevents them from cooperating with federal immigration officials, which is an absolute violation of federal law - 8 U.S.C. 1373, 1644.

These illegal local policies not only show contempt for federal immigration laws, they also create "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens and result in increased violent crime and huge costs to law-abiding taxpayers for shelter, education, health care and jail space for illegal immigrants.

I'd like you to show your support for the rule of law can call upon your governor to enforce immigration laws in your state. You can sign up at a special web site we've built to fight sanctuary for illegal aliens – "SanctuaryBusters.org."

You can stand up to radical "no borders" groups, the ACLU, and politicians who don't care about the rule of law.

We have filed suits against these so-called "sanctuary policies" and continue to oppose them at the state, county, city and town level. We’ve already won in places like Herndon, Virginia, Phoenix, Arizona, and New York State and continue fighting in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, DC, Houston and elsewhere. We need your support to continue this fight. Now, we need to take our fight to every state in the Union. That's why your signature, and those of your friends, is so important.

You've likely heard about the latest atrocity committed by an illegal alien in the sanctuary city of San Francisco. Just a few weeks ago, Edwin Ramos allegedly gunned down three innocents with an AK-47 following a minor traffic incident. Ramos, an illegal alien from El Salvador, had been arrested on three prior occasions, and convicted of two felonies but was never turned over to federal immigration authorities as a likely result of San Francisco’s self-imposed and illegal sanctuary status. Incredible…

In fact, too many towns, cities, counties and states across America have sanctuary policies. That's what makes this fight so important to you at a local level.

There is virtually no chance of getting real illegal immigration control legislation passed at the federal level anytime soon. President Bush and the federal government have failed in their duty to protect the American people and make our borders secure. They cannot even complete a badly needed border. Both of the likely presidential candidates have dismal records when it comes to stopping illegal immigration. But real progress can be made at the state and local level.

Please help us build a tidal wave of public support for ending illegal sanctuary policies, not only in your state, but all across America. Sign the petition, and please consider making a special contribution to help us defray the legal expenses of our related lawsuits and investigations. Then, please also spread the word within your friends, family, co-workers, church – everyone you know who shares the same commitment you do to the rule of law in America .

If you want more reasons, visit SanctuaryBusters.org.

Where sanctuaries for illegal aliens are busted, illegal aliens will go home!

Because no one is above the law…
