Illegal Immigration ALIPAC

Statistics from both sides

Indiana, home to an estimated 85,000 illegal immigrants, is not alone in trying to address illegal immigration. Legislatures in 46 states adopted 244 immigration-related measures last year, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

I have always maintained that this bill is bad for the economy.

Having said that, shouldn;t this thread go to the "politics" section so it doesn't get shut down right in the middle of a good discussion?

It may be bad for the economy for the short run but it's our governments fault that we've become so dependent on them. Oklahoma's unemployment rate was at an all time especially in Tulsa and OKC a little after 1804 was passed. I'm all for 1804, get the illegals out of here and give them to those American citizens that have lost their jobs, if they don't want them then that's their fault.

If the pay is there then an American citizen will work, instead these contractors and farm owners are making more than they should by paying illegals 2, 3, or 4 bucks an hour.

Why is it the government's fault?

While I don't believe that we need illegals in this country- if we really did need them so much so that our country would collapse without them-then yes we would deserve to die as a nation.

States like OK, AZ, and GA, who take the initiative to enforcing their own laws, show more concern for the American people than they do cheap labor.

I never believed the ends justify the means. If the American economy can't get by without an illegal labor force, then it's time for Americans to realize you can't have everything you want at a low price.

The media would have us believe that we are "entitled" to have every gadget and electronic we want, and at low prices. We should have all year round fruits and vegetables that are normally grown in season. We should be able to throw away things that break, instead of fixing them because we're "entitled."

The consumer mentality that Americans have may be good for the economy, but is it good for the soul?
