Hamilton County released an illegal immigrant who was being charged with armed robbery. Roelio Santana who is from Mexico was shot during the robbery and was paralyzed from the chest down. Santana facing 100 years in prison or possible deportation is now on the run. This would have never happened in Butler County with Sheriff Jones on the scene. Hamilton County needs to take a few lessons from Jones on illegal immigrants. Shouldn't be to hard to find an illegal in a wheelchair.

If you think about it. What other crime can he do to society? He will eventually die because of an infection from not being able to have moment LONG periods at a time.

Time to get a new sheriff in Hamilton County...As a big Si supporter in the past, I am thinking we need someone new to run the show...first, we need to find someone willing to run against him...anyone interested? I think whoever ran against him would probably win...

If you'd read the articles you'd know that this guy was spirited away by relatives. No one's going to be fool enough to think that they could escape on their own and then get far or be free for long in a wheelchair, geez. All of them could be in Alaska by now. The nursing-home workers had to be complete idiots to allow that to happen.
All the "English Only" signs in redneck dives and the b*tchin' and moanin' about having to take an extra fraction of a second to press the appropriate "menu" button for instructions in our native language never fail to annoy the "bodily secretions" outta me. But this whole episode is beyond the pale. If somebody commits a criminal act, and they're known to have no business being in the US, grant them their right to a speedy trial (which as a non-citizen they may not even have), then give 'em a one-way ticket out.
Simon Leis has a common trait with other right-wing nut jobs like Wallace, Thurmond, and Helms. They take way too long to reach the end of their lives. An appreciable amount of Cincinnati's well-deserved and universal reputation for being a backazzwards and reactionary city can be credited to him. I'd love to see Leslie Isaiah Gaines take over his position.
But, back on topic, who here seriously believes that when they catch this uninvited "visitor" he'll be brought to trial and found guilty and then promptly escorted to the border?

I hope they didn't consider Alaska. Alaska is a big gun state; most residents own and carry guns. So if he's smart he'll stay out of Alaska lol. And unless they fly they'll never make it across the Canadian or the U.S. Border.

Goyguy, I'm very Liberal about some things. And I have lived in Europe, so I'm all about making things easy for tourists and other VISITORS to the U.S. But making it easy for illegal aliens to survive and even thrive in this nation is ABSOLUTELY wrong. As long as we cater to them by making English unnecessary, they will always be our low-wage indentured servants. (And why does "bilingual" always mean English-Spanish??? My German-born wife, who speaks English better than I do, never has anyone cater to her in German...) BTW, Goyguy, you immediatly lose credibility when you sink to name calling by using the term "Redneck"...

Last I checked, "redneck" was reworked into a label to be worn with pride, kinda like "*****" is still a term of derision toward same-sexers but is self-inflicted by a lot of them so that it's "owned," the n-word is treated the same way by a lot of Blacks, etc etc. Rednecks drive refurbished muscle cars or steroided pickup trucks, kill fish and wildlife for fun, follow NASCAR like Deadheads did Jerry, and faithfully listen to country music no matter how watered-down and mediocre it gets. For each one of them who sports the stars n' bars flag on everything from picnic coolers to underpants there's another who wants no part of racism and walks the talk. Some go to megachurches and steer their kids into "Christian schools" and believe reproductive choice is a worse threat to national security than all-out wars launched under false pretenses. Others, like all proud relatives, may show off photos of nieces or nephews or grandkids when asked (and when not asked, lol) only to nonchalantly comment that "This is the third little girl for Debbie and Crystal." The proportion of schools of thought is definitely lopsided, but both are represented. And yes, some of my best friends are...

Plus, many rednecks work cordially and comfortably alongside Mexicans and other folks whose native tongue is Spanish. Not every Anglo in "East" Price Hill and Carthage and Hamilton is chomping at the bit to get out. Therein lies the social beauty and promise of our country, blocked at every turn as it is by those who opt for segregation and ignorance.

The fact remains that the vocal English-only, wall-the-borders crowd is redneck to the core. Linguistic intolerance exists at all income levels but is politely left unexpressed by those with higher amounts of formal education and supposedly open-minded sensibilities. No drinking spot downtown or in Clifton or Northside or Mt Adams would post signs demanding that only one language be spoken. Nor would any in Blue Ash or Springdale. (Nor would Norwood? No, Norwood would, hahaha.) But redneck bars do, though not all rednecks patronize them.

Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and the natives of Central and South American countries travel back and forth to the US by the thousands daily. Hundreds of thousands more are native-born Americans or naturalized citizens. It only makes good business sense to set up services which acknowledge the reality of this. Now that we're in the 21st Century, no one from anyplace is going to do the Horatio Alger thing. Little Jose and Josefina can't be left to their own devices in a classroom to "catch up," because it's now a total myth that somebody who drops out of school or even gets as far as a diploma can still attain material success in adulthood. The only practical and humane thing to do is to offer bilingual academic resources. What was realized only recently is that these resources should be extended to the children of English-speaking households too. Those kids who go through the K-6 "Amigos" program of bilateral language immersion in my adopted city have standardized-test scores that're among the highest districtwide. Cincinnati is also taking a belated jump aboard that bandwagon. The sooner the USA gets over its ahead-of-and-better-than-the-rest-of-the-world arrogance the better.

Joke:
Q: What do you call someone who speaks two languages?
A: Bilingual
Q: What do you call someone who speaks three languages?
A: Trilingual
Q: What do you call someone who speaks a whole lotta languages?
A: Multilingual
Q: What do you call someone who speaks only one language?
A: American

"That's not funny, that's sick!"

Round up the sumbich, hold all the necessary trials, roll him back to Mexico. That much is still cut-and-dried. Hey...maybe guaranteed deportation of all convicted criminals, even natives, holds the key to making ours a safer country. "Mr Smith, this is your second appearance before this court on DWI charges. Need I remind you that a third-offense conviction means twenty years in Latvia?" "No, Your Honor, I don't need reminding. As of yesterday, with the help of my higher power I'm five months sober, one day at a time." I like it.

we took this country by force of arms and by committing genocide on those who inhabited this continent. What right do we have to exclude people?
