"HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Attorneys for an illegal immigrant from Honduras say his inability to get legal help from his government following his arrest for killing an Arlington store manager during a robbery should keep him from a scheduled trip to the Texas death chamber.
Lawyers said Heliberto Chi, who was set to die this evening, was denied rights given to foreigners under international treaty.
It's the second death penalty case this week in the nation's most active capital punishment state to focus on diplomatic issues.
On Tuesday night, after a split U.S. Supreme Court narrowly rejected a late appeal, Mexican-born convicted killer Jose Medellin was executed for participating in a gruesome gang rape and murders of two teenage Houston girls 15 years ago..."

Interesting, Lakewooder . . . there's absolutely no mention of "proper legal help" for the Dead Store Manager!
Awww, poor little Heliberto. Yeah right. I found this "outpouring" of support from his fellow Hondurans (most of it is in Spanish, naturally). Enough garbage in this to make you want to puke. He's apparently been lifted to the level of national "hero".
Sure sounds like he cares about the victims and their families, huh? Why on earth would he think he deserves hope that a better future exists? What future exists for Mr. Armand Paliotta, the guy who he killed in cold blood?
Chi would say little about the crime in an interview with The Associated Press shortly before his then-scheduled execution last year. "My situation is not about being innocent or guilty," he said. "My rights were violated."
"If it's the Lord's will" and he was executed, Chi said he had "great peace in my mind and soul."
