Your primary argument was that a person here illegally does not need a taxpayer identification number in order to pay taxes. I said that you were wrong so you trotted out as an example, a person who may or may not be a legal resident and who may or may not have a taxpayer identification number in order to pay taxes.

A legal resident may obtain a Social Security number and may work legally and will, of course, pay taxes on that income. An illegal alien will obtain a Social Security number fraudulently in order to work, may claim 10 dependents on their W-4 form, pay no taxes and only be responsible for FICA, which is a small price to pay for stealing someone else's identity.

Big difference....huge.

I'm not a Bush lover or Hater. Presidents and Prime Ministers are only truly judged in History. Reagan was looked at as a "Bumbler" and is now a Saint. Kennedy only just managed to be elected by a very small Margin ( thanks to the Mafia) but is now talked about as one of the greatest Presidents. Who knows how Bush will be looked back upon? Todays America is damned if it does and Damned if it Doesn't. That's the price of being the World's Strongest Power. Bush should have sealed up the Borders and i cannot understand why he didn't. The Illegals DO NOT respect the countries immigration Laws so why does anyone think that they respect anything about the USA? I have been treated with the utmost respect in the USA and i want to say thank you to everyone who has done so. Even though i am a Brit, i get a lump in my throat everytime i hear someone say "god bless America".

My best friend is a Brit with whom I go to University. She's obtaining her Master's in American Studies.

She is a legal resident, obtained a Social Security number, works, goes to University, and loves and respects this country. Her opinion regarding illegal immigration closely resembles yours. To both of you, I say good on ya!

Thanks Kele. I'm sure there are many LEGAL mexican residents or citizens who also hate the illegal problem. They also have respected the American Laws but are so often tarred with the same brush as the illegal immigrants. Big difference.

Do they not realise that Illegal means illegal and stop whinging about what they pay or how they are treated. Get to the back of the line and get your residency and then you can complain. Sneaking across the border does not give anyone the right to work, live or have a say in what goes on in America.
I have no problem when people immigrate here legally as you have done! Kudos to you for doing it the right way.

It always irks me when I hear someone here ILLEGALLY talk about how they aren't a criminal and they deserve the same rights as law-abiding citizens and immigrates. The very definition of a criminal is someone who is guilty of a crime. If they don't have valid, legal documentation then they are in fact guilty of a crime and therefore a criminal! They have broken a law and are not entitled to the rights of citizens and legal residents.

Maybe it's because i have watched at first hand how illegal immigration that is not stopped, eats away at a country like a cancer. Unfortunately it is something that you don't realise is a huge problem until it has become too big a problem for a quick solution.
