Achury's little 'goal' is highly unlikely now---------------the people of Arizona are awake now and pissed.
Even many American 'Hispanics' here are torqued at the illegals.

Exactly. A Northern point for drug running, how nice. When will drugs become the top income for Mexico? It might be 3rd right now.

<<If they identify police with immigration enforcement, many might hesitate to report crimes or assist in criminal investigations as witnesses because of the fear that any contact with the police could lead to being detained based on their perceived immigration status.">>
The truth is they're more afraid of the gang bangers, and other criminals, in their neighborhoods than the police. Police not questioning their immigration status isn't going to get rid of their fear of retaliation. You find the same thing in predominantly poor black neighborhoods. No one sees anything, no one hears anything, no one knows anything, and they certainly have no fear of deportation. To be seen talking to the police could be very dangerous.

i remembered why i stayed out of this thread. its garbage thru and thru.
until this last poster actually (jayarcy).
interesting point.
on the other hand, victims [who happen to be here illegally] have more "mobility". at least the recent arrivals do. they are not tied to communities as much as long standing residents. if an illegal is beat on by thugs and robbed, he can report it, without too much fear that they will come to his house (or apt). he can easily move or use his chameleon like skills to avoid retaliation. it is easier for transient folks (like illegals) to avoid retaliation, thus they might be more willing to cooperate.
but i think this move has more to do with issues of domestic violence and such (and even then turning a victim on their DV perp can be hard). if an illegal knows that they will be helped and NOT placed in any kind of jeapordy, they really are more willing to provide info.
i aint mad at this one bit.

"Sanctuary City" is so vague.
Anonymous Political Junky, next time, please state exactly what happened in the header instead of using the use catch-all "Sanctuary City."
Police departments have limited resources, so if this allows Tucson to focus on violent criminals, good.
We can't catch every illegal immigrant out there, or it would be a waste of manpower. Focus on the "naughty" violent, drug trade ones and leave the "good" ones alone; people who do DUIs, murder, etc are stupid and deserve deportation.

"Good ones"? And who would that be? They first violated our immigration laws and then many if not most have committed felonies by using fake I.D.'s and SS numbers to steal jobs from Americans. No law breakers are "good" right down to the petty thieves in this country. Our law enforcement should after ALL law breakers.

cops are to sworn uphold the law federal and local. no mayor or police chief can pick or choose what laws to enforce or not to enforce. illegals most go back to country they come from

At least Phx is no longer a Sanctuary City after the murder of ca. 3 Phoenix PD officers by illegal aliens.
