Do I wanna work out right now, or should I say screw it and grab a burrito before heading to my girlfriends house?

I called BS on the incident. I think she's full of it, and made up a story to support your theory on the attitude of the illegals towards using ER.
I don't think they come here PLANNING on ending up in ER. Its not like they sit there laughing to themselves thinking "suck it, America!".
When did I ever say anything about the ER? THEY WERE AT THE HOSPITAL! Yeah..that's right..using the medicaid that us hardworking citizens pay for. And actually..yeah they do sit there laughing to themselves a lot of the time (NOT ALL THE TIME). Are you oblivious to reality? This is just my Mom's observation...I have had SOOOO many more. On top of that, I have worked at several grocery store chains, one while I was homeless and COULD NOT GET GOV'T HELP...but guess who were the MAJORITY coming in with their food stamp cards and wic? JUST GUESS. IMMIGRANTS! That's right.

The difference is...Americans PAY for their healthcare in Mexico. We are constantly looking for ways to save money since our taxes are being ripped from us to pay for the very illegals/immigrants who come here and abuse our system. It's unfortunate that us noble citizens have to do this. We should be able to have affordable healthcare in our own country..but it's hard to keep it affordable when it's in such high demand..due to it be hogged by the filthy illegals/immigrants.

Something that needs to be considered re: Spanish; aside from Spain and most of Latin America it is not a significant language in the world. OTOH: English is indeed very important to know because it is everywhere.

I am sure that the sun will set on English usage in time-----------but, the replacement tongue will probably not be Spanish.

Agreed! Everywhere that I go, people are dying to learn English. In Europe, most of them already know it. I worked in an investment bank and even the japanese clients learned English. It's the language of the world quite simply. Not even to be biased...it just is! I know that Spanish will never rule the world. It's actually eversoslowly dying out.

What is wrong with learning the language of the land? If you immigrated to a country that spoke something other then English, would you learn the language? I would. I am horribly offended by people who refuse to learn English even after having been here for years. Now, obviously not everyone is going to be able to learn, especially the elderly. But for gods sake make the effort --- and by that I do not mean demand everyone else learn you language to make life easier for you!

Awesome statement camping. I feel the same way. If I were to move to Spain, I would definitely learn spanish in that case...and if I didn't know it after 10 years of living there..I would feel horribly ashamed. It's not even a bias that I have that English is the superior language (although it is at this point)...it's just like you, I am annoyed by those who come here and refuse to learn the language. With all of our ESL classes, etc...it seems so unacceptable.

I had a good % of people come into my business saying "No speaka engalish". So I had to figure out what they were trying to say.
Finally, I put a sign up a the gate, "NO ENGLISH...NO REPAIR"
Those who didn't speak english, brought an interputer or went somewhere else. But most of them that said they couldn't, started speaking it.

Sorry, I lacked the '' at the end of the post.

Anyway, what do you not get about being 'multi-lingual'? In this case meaning Spanish and English?

Bottom line...the onus to become multi-lingual is soley on the immigrant, not the established citizenry. If US citizens wish to speak a foreign language, it should be one (or more) of their choosing. They should not be guilted, shamed, or PC into it by pandering politicians and/or 'community activists' (which really have become one and the same, no?) much less told which language they must learn to better aid the newcomers.
And that is all I'm saying.

Yeah right. And then the Mexican ate a puppy, huh? And then she stole your grandma's apple juice and drank it in one drink.
