My foster daughter did not want to take Spanish - she wanted to take French in High School - and she excelled in it. Now that she is at the University, she is continuing with her French studies -
I saw no reason why she should be forced to take a language she did not want to ....
ITA. My son has a great deal in common with your daughter. I love the sound of french, it is such a beautiful language. (Patient soul that she is) one of my Pakistani neighbors is working (really hard) to help me learn Urdu.
Your opinion is very trollish. Spanish = Ebonics that's a new one.
I find most of your posts trollish, so your point is what? Because I hate the sound of spanish and am not afraid to publicly admit it makes me a troll?
Love me or hate me, sorry, I'm not a descendant of the PC generation.
Who cares about spanish?!!!! Do we live in mexico? Are we living in spain or south america???? Nope! I speak english perfectly and that's what matters!
This I will say: 'Ebonics' is basically Cockney from 16th Century England with some (probable) west African influences. Most of the Black slaves came from either Nigeria or Ghana. So; we can blame Ebonics on us White people
As for Spanish: the cold reality is that it is not widely spoken outside of Spain and most of Latin America whereas English is the lingua franca of the world.

Thank you AB. We both know that the agenda of those whose native language is spanish (and the corporate masters) is to give it credibility by forcing it to play a major part in the dynamics of American culture. That way it will make it as universally acceptable as English and the illiterate millions primarily from SOB won't have to worry about learning English.
Excellent post, hope I can finally rep you!
ETA: Sorry I can't rep you, gotta spread the love!

Karfar, I hate to say it. But Dubs is right on the dot. I'm with her on this. Spanish is an option now, and I will do EVERYTHING, on my part, to make sure that it always remains an "OPTION"..and nothing more than that. The last time I checked...the people who fought for this country and established spoke english. NOT SPANISH.

Speaking about yourself I see.
