This tired old tripe again?

Why is it that the United States of America seems to be the only country singled out for its origins while the beginnings of many other countries around the world were much more violent?

When was the last time you met an Ostrogoth or a Visogoth? By the mid sixth century, they were conquered first by the Huns and then by Rome, with devastating results for modern day Italy. Yet Italy managed to survive its barbaric origins and has prospered.

Celtish and Germanic peoples managed to survive Roman invasion and were, while not better off for it at the time, did end up with roads, viaducts, architecture, etc.

Man's inhumanity to man has been well documented throughout history and the origins of this country show yet another facet of that age old dilemma. Is it because the origins of this country are so recent, that people feel the need to continue to harp upon its beginnings? There is not a country on Earth whose beginnings can be attributed to hearts, flowers, and diplomacy.

The United States of America is a country. North America is a continent. South America is a continent. It is not all wrapped up into one big land mass. Do you deny the sovereignty of the South American countries as well?

The beginnings of this country weren't pretty. But they were what they were and whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, this country is sovereign and this country's people, i.e.; her citizens, have the right to determine her future.

Simply because all countries on Earth were founded by immigrants, because as we all know, there are no indigenous peoples anywhere except Africa, does not mean that immigration to any sovereign country is a right. It is a priviledge and it is a priviledge which the country and its people have a right to control.

We as Americans, have determined that we are fed up with those who declare that this is their country simply because of Mexico's ownership of small territories for less than 25 years of our history, or because they believe that America's proximity to Mexico on this continent gives people the right to come and go as they please.

Build the wall. Deport them all.

That can't be right. According to most of the garbage I read here, they're taking over America. This is a hostile invasion. This country is doomed!

A bunch of poor people wanted to come here for a better life. This country can't handle that. It's all over. Say hello to the new third world America. Damn poor Mexicans.

Can't wait to see what the next bogeyman is gonna be in a decade or two.

If they want a better life- they can do it LEGALLY as many other have done and still do-or better yet-Mexico is a wealthy country. Why don't it's citizens stay down there and fight for rights in their own country instead of breaking laws and demanding rights here. All illegals deserve is a one -way ticket home.

Crap, pure and simple.

There are approximately 6.5 billion people in the world. At least one-third of them are poor people who would come to the U.S. for a better life if it were possible. Why should we throw open our borders to those coming up from the south while denying the same compassion to the other billions of poor people in the world?

Mexico doesn't even make the top 50 poorest countries in the world--why the compassion for their poor while billions of people across the globe are suffering in abject, hopeless, endless poverty. Today in Africa, 2,500 children will die. Tomorrow, another 2,500 will die. The day after that will bring the same. Why shouldn't they be privy to America's compassion?

Because those of you who make excuses for Mexico sending their refuse that they don't want to be responsible for across our borders are really nothing more than shameless promoters of indentured servitude, no better than those money-mongering corporations who hire illegals in order to pad their bottom line.

Extremely well put. Mexico has the largest percentage of new Millionaires (next to Arab oil rich Countries) anywhere on the planet yet they do not tax these people fairly to support it's impoverished. They let the US do that.

There are 2 types of Americans not seeing the pain caused by illegal immigrants. The extreme poor and those with their helmets on backwards.
