2 immigrants dead; others detained at AZ military range (Cheney, 9/11, middle east)

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reports that at least a dozen undocumented immigrants have been detained after wandering near a US Air Force Base in southwestern Arizona Sunday.

Sheriff's deputies are working with border patrol agents and DPS officers in an effort to locate five to seven more undocumented immigrants who are believed to be in the area of the Barry M. Goldwater Range about 13 miles south of Gila Bend.

Two undocumented immigrants have died, likely from dehydration, according to MCSO.

The range, which is active with armed military aircraft, has been shut down as authorities search for other stranded immigrants.

Few details were made available Sunday afternoon.

Indeed. I have no doubt that there are terrorist here and biding their time. For the life of me I cannot imagine why Bush and Cheney have not been locked away underground for the rest of their misery causing lives.

You’re right. We simply have no idea who is in our country. Only the truly naive would believe our enemies would not take advantage of our open borders. I believe the only reason we haven’t been attacked since 9/11 is because they aren’t quite ready. Remember, it took them several years from the first failed attack on the WTC before they attacked again. Osama Bin Laden stated they want to kill at least 1 million with their next attack, and that it would be so horrific we would completely forget 9/11.

Sadly, our government would rather facilitate cheap illegal labor than protect this country from a terrorist attack. Those traffickers are bringing much more into this country than humans and drugs. Don’t be fooled by the lack of terrorism here……it’s coming.

During the cold war days the Southern border was a favorite route used by the KGB. This is fact and admitted to by former KGB officers. We most definetly require tighter border security.
As for the lost individuals.
Although I hope they are found still alive I can not help but feel oh well they knew the risks.

This missile range has been the scene of terrible deaths of illegals for decades. It's one of the hottest regions in the US in summer, and is not far above sea level.

I remember about 25 years ago in this same missile range (east of Yuma, west of Ajo, south of Gila Bend) that some 'scumbag' from THIS side of the border transported a dozen or so young Mexican boys out into the desert (in the heat of summer, of course) to gather up spent brass from target ranges. (brass at that time was selling well). Spotting a military patrol, the guy took off north, and they chased him, caught him, and 'booked him' for trespassing onto the base.

Only later they discovered the boys, whom he'd simply abandoned. All but two, as I recall, had died of heat stroke, and one survivor had permanent brain damage.

Nasty area, with a brutal summer climate. Not a good place to be on foot.

Well he did say is in the 70's. Back when the two parties had a small level of sense left...........
