Tucson-area hospitals estimate that providing emergency care for illegal immigrants has cost them more than $66 million since 2005.
The federal government has reimbursed them for $13 million of that through a Medicare program that began in 2005.
But on Oct. 1, the beginning of the federal 2009 fiscal year, even that financial help will go away when the reimbursement program ends.

Wowza . . . who can blame them? I can only hope that Illinois hospitals have learned their lesson as well. These people are a net surplus of ZERO and an annual drain of multiple billions in terms of every social service in every state in America.
Yes, most illegal immigrant emergency care is not paid for by the government. Neither is most uninsured citizen care. The doctors and hospitals eat the cost.
Of course, I'm sure some of those costs get passed on...*sigh*
Time to send the military to the border. Maybe a shot in the ass will get the message across to them that we're tired of paying for their medical bills, food, etc. Seriously, armed guards and dogs. If you have to, rough them up a bit, im sick of this.

Actually it all gets passed on. Anyone that has insurance pays in higher premiums, co pays, etc. Your insurance company negotiates a rate for each procedure with doctors, hospitals, etc. If the hospital is millions in the red-they need to make up that $$ some how and it results in higher rates.
I think we should start a collection, among the supporters of illegals, and have them put their money where their mouths are and pay that $66 million. From what I have witnessed of the illegal huggers on this forum, they are quite generous when it's other people's money, but we have yet to see them actually reach into their own wallets.
Well, it’s about time! They should have stopped a good $65 mil ago. Eventually hospitals nationwide will change their policies, because we simply can’t continue to pay these exorbitant medical bills for people who have no right to even be here. Furthermore, they don’t even appreciate our generosity; they simply feel entitled.
Over 60 hospital ER's have closed in Southern California in the last eight years, bankrupt due to giving free care to illegal aliens.
You cannot tax American citizens enough nor rely on the Federal government enough to recoup those kinds of losses which are estimated to reach into the billions of dollars.
