Isn't it grand being the educated, informed posters on this forum Nic?

I had to step away for a minute, thanks!

We have spent decades and millions of dollars to make the US food supply as safe as possible. All that effort is now being undermined by people like the taco dealer who does not wear gloves while handling food and does not wash his hands all day. We have them all over the place here in Chicago. Every now and then the city tries to make them comply with the rules everyone else has to follow. Nothing ever happens because the ethnic advocacy groups all start shouting 'racist' and the mighty city of Chicago backs right down.

Honestly, I have avoided purchasing fresh fruit and vegetables for a while now. I have also given up eating out. I used to live for the days for the Farmers Market to come to downtown Chicago. I would spend several lunch hours stocking up on their goods. Do I miss them? of course. So much so one of my co-workers often brings me fresh vegetables from her garden.

At the end of the day, I blame the FDA and the greedy globalist for negating the safety of Americans but I take responsibility for my choices. In doing so, I realize that I can no longer depend on my government nor any of its associated entity's to do their jobs.

another tenous link to immigration.

this has more to do with food safety. why is this not in the food or health section?

i'm on the side of the restaurants here. i think these trucks should be regulated better. i think operating hours and zones should be limited to when neighborhood eateries are closed.

established eateries contibute to a thriving, tax paying community.

lunch trucks dont.
plus lunch trucks producs more street trash.

as much as i love my tacos, i think it is better to help establish solid tax foundations to improve a neighborhood.

on the flip side the regulatiosn that LA county imposed are a bit heavy handed. they would be forced to move their truck every 30 minutes. that makes no sense. what if i got there with 5 minutes left? would i have to follow the truck donw the street?

what does make sense is having places through out the county where sit down eateries are non existene, limited or closed for the night(late night tacos are so good some times!!!) and letting the trucks set up shop for 2 hours(btwn 1 and 3 possibly) and then move.

there can be a compromise reached.

with that said. this is about commerce and cleanliness not immigration.

another stretch

How is this a liberal issue? Taco trucks on the street, big whoop. We've got a ton of them here, they're great, convenient, food is good & cheap. I see no murders, crime, rapes, pillaging, etc. going on around there. Why do you people have a problem w/absolutely anything hispanic?
