AzBear is correct. In the past 40 years we have gained 100 million people. The USA would have lost population if not for out of control immigration-both legal and illegal.

Even the legal immigration would be OK: just pitching the illegals out of the USA would drop our population 5%.

Again, using speculation as fact is no argument at all.

What figures AREN'T speculation? We KNOW that 12 million is a friggin' joke, and that simple mathematics will lead you to a figure that doubles it. I'm not trying to argue anything, I'm just being realistic.

According to the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the resident population of the United States, projected to 08/31/08 at 17:08 GMT (EST+5) is
305,022,308. Ten percent of that would be 30 million. So I suppose the number of illegal aliens that make up the U.S. population is subjective depending upon whose figures are used.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol, between the years 2000 and 2005, 5.2 million illegal immigrants were stopped at the southern border. That breaks down to roughly one million illegal aliens per year stopped from coming into the U.S. by immigration officials.

According to T.J. Bonner, Union Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, the number of illegal immigrants arrested at the border is dwarfed by the number who make it through. For every person they catch, two or three get by them.

So, if we multiply the lesser number of two times one million, that means approximately two million illegal immigrants make it into the U.S. yearly. If we use the lowballed figure of twelve million illegal aliens in the U.S. that has been floated around since the year 2000 and add two million illegal immigrants per year for the last eight years, that figure is nearly ten percent of the U.S. population, even if you account for some illegals leaving the U.S. The numbers clilmb into higher percentages if the higher figure of three is used for the average.

So, I would say that Guy is pretty close to correct, give or take a percentage point in either direction. Math doesn't play favorites, it only surmises that which can be tested with figures.

2nd that estimate.

5% is just too conservative, and in line with the propaganda number of 12 million the media at large invented years ago out of thin air, which is still being used, by them and politicians. A number that never changes? Obama further depreciates reality and uses 11 million, additionally, he understates the annual invasion of 1 million to 400,000 (Kele says it's 2 million annually).

Anyone insulated in their lives perhaps would see this as accurate, or those in isolated areas from the problem. 12 million is not reality, it's a sales pitch. 30 million is closer to the truth. That's 10%.

With active citizens and the help of law enforcement, maybe we can bring that down to 9%.

Let me direct you to a letter written by Sen. John McCain back in 2002. His estimate was that about 4 million illegally crossed the border that year. He used the Border Patrol's statistics to arrive at that number. Those statistics stayed very constant for SEVERAL years, leading me to believe that the estimated number of illegals ALSO stayed constant.

It really isn't rocket science, people...

Here's the link to McCain's letter...

Another interesting read regarding the illegal alien population in the US...

Illegal alien numbers in the United States - How many illegal aliens? - The Dustin Inman Society - Secure American Borders - Enforce American laws

It's long, but it goes into the complete methodology of how the numbers of illegal aliens are estimated.
