"The environment is being threatened by an increasing population, and immigration is the leading cause of population growth in the United States. An Environmental Choice is hosted by Monique Miller from Wild Earth and interviews with Former U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day. This video takes a look at immigration from an environmentalist's perspective and feature's Roy Beck's famous Immigration by the Numbers presentation in which he uses charts and gumballs to illustrate the problems with mass immigration"

Excellent read Kele! Everyone who thinks that the US has unlimited space and resources to accomodate the presence of everyone in the world who comes here looking for the "American Dream" needs to read this article.

We are expediently on our way to running out of space, natural resources and loosing our status as a first world nation.

The horror! Population growth is the direct cause of the degradation of the environment, this is true. But I guess all those conservatives out there who stubbornly refuse to even acknowledge the problem have nothing to do w/it as well, huh? God forbid people should start looking at the environment around them & start giving a **** instead of tossing out tons of garbage a day, refusing to recycle, buying gas guzzling pieces of crap, incessant land development....the list goes on & on.

It’s truly disheartening that environmentalists are afraid to broach the issue of immigration for fear of being considered mean-spirited. How is a legitimate concern for our environment mean-spirited? Sadly, they would rather allow our country to be destroyed, rather than ruffle the feathers of “immigrants.” What’s next? What will be the next detriment ignored for the sake of political correctness?

Great thread, Kele. Thanks for posting.

I would like to point out one thing, recycling is BS. (except recycling things like card board and aluminum cans). It is costing Americans millions to recycle.

Too bad no one wants to listen to the founder of Earth Day. Over 30 years ago he predicted overpopulation would be one of the largest negatives against our environment. Instead due mostly to immigration-legal and otherwise- we are going to add another 135 million people in 40 years.

Once our natural resources are gone-they are gone for good.

Precisely.

So how many of the millions of illegal aliens in this country do you think are concerned with recycling, buying gas efficient vehicles, and minimizing their carbon footprints?

How many of them do you believe are concerned with the alarming decrease in farmland and the increase in deforestation due to the housing and apartment construction going on in this country in order to house our ever burgeoning population?

Yeah, that's how many I thought too....

------------

I agree with all example's except the buying gas efficient that is an "honor" that belongs to American citizen's of ALL races.

Come to Florida or countless state's to see Monster trucks- Humvee's- SUV's and big caddillac's.

Again the other examples your right on but not the fuel efficient car's.

I would add to your example unreal littering and using the land as a dumpster .

I think people will wish it's "only" 135 mill in 40 years.
