There seems to be tosn of misinformation about the real issues! There are problems here like anywhere else, geeeeez. There is a lot of crime, please watch the local news and keep in mind that is not 10% of teh crime coverage, as there woudln't be enough TV air time to get all the crime news on TV. FL is tough on crime, but because of the massive urban sprwal, cops cannot cover it all and the system is overloaded as is (Orange County jail on 33rd Street has over 4,000 inmates, super over crowded). But still, it's not enough to contain the crime explosion.

The insurance thing... look if you are naive enough to listen to sales person or real estate person that inusrance is reasonbale, you will be shocked, sad, and surprised. You don't just factor that!! You need to add Home owner's association costs (which will cost at least $300/month) and property taxes, which are very high (higher than most placed I have lived in, certainly higher than CO).

Immigration issues are very serious, like I said, tons of aliens cause fatal car wrecks and they disappear to another US city and use another alias (how can cops check anyway - they have no ID)! Usually aliens act with total disregard for the laws, hot and run all the time, nothing happens. I think US citizens get the blunt of the criminal system and aliens get a pass.

The schools here are horrible, my hubby went to FL public schools and he said they are bad. Tons of students don't speak English and say to teachers that they (the aliens) don't get good grades because they are latinos (or whatever) so teachers fear being accused of discrimination. The school scores are lowered because of aliens who get bad scores and lowers it for everyone.

Folks, believe the truth or suffer later. I am sorry, these guys seem pretty right to me.

I agree with this assessment 100%! Immigration laws must be enforced and aliens deported so there will more jobs available than people to fill them, which automatically raises wages and creates incentives for companies to attract employees. Does anyone other than me realizes that our economy is markte-dirven, meaning better wages and benefits will not be offered to employees unless the companies need to attract workers???//Unquote

MaryLou, I agree with you totally and I understand exactly what you're saying. It's something that people in all states need to be vigilant of while there's still time to control this.

MaryLou, I agree with you totally and I understand exactly what you're saying. It's something that people in all states need to be vigilant of while there's still time to control this.

Just go after the employers, fine them tens of thousands of dollars per violation and watch it come to a halt quick. Remember when the standard parking violation was $2.00. People just treated it like an expensive and did what ever they wanted, who cares it is only $2.00. Now it is like $25.00 to $35.00 in most places and people don't do it any more. Put the GD employer out of business if he can't follow the law, bankrupt him.

I believe that the problem is that many of the employers are campaign contributors. But I agree with you- either that, or levy the toughest fines against those not taking taxes and social security from their wages. If all the illegal workers had deductions from their pay, we wouldn't be in such a predicament.

Always be careful when you make this argument to specify illegal immigrants (I know you meant to, but it's important to be specific). This is what prolongs argument and actually makes illegals think they have a leg to stand on because people are being accidentally too general on what they mean and begin to enrage the legal immigrants and get them in the same corner with the illegals....

This "Day without immigrants" was a great example...... Do they realize that 97% of the people's problem is solely with illegal immigrants and that the other 3% are pretty much racists that aren't happy with half of the people that are already here???

If we are specific then it is simple. When there's a protest over the "rights" of illegal immigrants, we remind them what the definition of "illegal" is, that they have no rights as U.S. citizens because they are NOT citizens, round them up and send them home.....

And yes, crack down on any employer that knowingly employs illegals.... That is the key.

On response to that, I asked many people from other companies if they notuced any different during the "day w/o immigrants". The answer has always been NO, everything was fine, less traffic on the streets, but that was it. I talked to many people who began realizing that America can easily go w/o illegal immigrants! If they had done that demonstration closer to November 2006 (election time), I tell you, everyone pro-amnesty politicians would have been out of the job. I think the polls clearly show that Americans want their country back and illegals out.

Let's get to the issue at heart here:

Now, on the issue of "being negative", I don't think that pointing out a fact (example: Florida has the highest density of tornado occurrence in the country) should be counted as "being negative". That would be denyiong the truth.



On the other hand, pointing out a opinion (example: East Orlando sucks - which I think it does - my personal opinion) could technically be considered a "negative comment". Doesn't mean the person is negative, just the specific comment.

I think it is also important to find out WHY someone thinks a certain way (opinion). Also try to understand that just because someone points out an opinion or fact that is not "good for the local image", it just doesn't make the individual a negative person.

To me, the truth should be told, I peronally dislike people who sugar coat things... you know people that call "drunks" - "substance dependant"? Why not call them drunks? Isn't that what they are? Well, if you don't want to use the real word, you are sugar-coating.

So, sugar coating things, saying crime is not bad in Orlando.. come on, does Orlando have to become Detroit before you say "Crime is bad"??? It is bad now! How about saying Orlando is "fast-paced" instead of what it really is... stressful!? Or saying Orlando has "high-population desity" instead of the real word... OVERCROWDED. Or saying that illegal aliens are.. undocumented workers. PLEASE!! Let's the get words straight, call it as it is, whether it is negative or not.

Is it bad to call things as they really are??? Why is that?

Agree, The law is not enforced, if we stop the employment the problem will cease.
