Sure. We would arrest any other law breaker we discovered in that process. I realize they have to get out of harm's way, but they could evacuate by moving south as well.

Your being silly and you know it.
Police don't have the time nor do they want to run ID checks on the masses they need to evacuate .
In a State of Emergency, how would it be feasible to deal with illegals? If they can't handle the problem when the sun is shining, then how are they going to deal with it in 160 mph winds? It's not as though they can tie them to an air balloon and hope they blow back where they came from.
It would not be that difficult to be honest. You have to show ID to be allowed on the buses, and once in a shelter you must fill out paperwork to make sure your benefits will get to you or to file for government support...no paperwork to prove your identity hold them thru the storm and then detain them after they are allowed to go home till they can prove they are here legally. FEMA would not be bogged down and the police in the evacuation city would be able to monitor and deal with the offenders. They have the time to call in for help with ICE and other departments throughout the state. We are the second largest state and we do have the resources if we work together.
Of COURSE illegals should be arrested IMMEDIATELY if caught during a hurricane evacuation...otherwise, illegals will converge on coastal areas each fall, just HOPING for a Hurricane, so that they TOO will qualify for those "Red Cross" packets, and a free night or two in the High School gymnasium....stop it NOW !..it's the ONLY way to prevent 'copy-cat' victims from showing up every time it rains !!

What if a person doesn't have ID now what never mind 1 person let's say 100 or more ? Police do not have time for that .
The objective is to get people out of harms way NOW not spend time looking for illegals .
They don't have that luxury they must get people out of the area fast . Even checking ID is something that now takes time .
Citizens with outstanding parking tickets ,etc are now going to say they don't have ID . It will cause a monster of a mess.

I imagine to get a red cross package you must have ID but that is after the fact of an evacuation.
Why not have life guards check for citizenship BEFORE they rescue people , that's same premise as checking ID,etc before/during evacuation.
There is no time it's a rescue type operation not an ICE raid.

Its not the same at all and you know it. As a former rescue swimmer I can absolutely tell you its not the same at all. One is a rescue whose total time maybe counted in minutes.
An evacuation is over a matter of days if done properly. Hurricane notice is days in advance. Intellegent people begin preparing for evacuation before the fact. We are not talking about a tornado dropping out of the sky here.
They want to use our shelters, our services they best have some ID. If not we have a seperate location for those with no ID. After the crisis we sort it all out. Illegals should be deported regardless of situation we find them in.

Can't get on the bus without an ID. When you evacuate your home you take all pertinent or important papers with you so they will not get destroyed...that is Hurricane basics 101 every person on the coast knows this. Illegals without ID are leaving in their own cars.
