A Republican U.S. Senator who serves on five major committees and regularly speaks out against illegal immigration owns a lucrative produce business that mostly employs illegal immigrants.

While Oregon Senator Gordon Smith publicly chastises illegal immigrants (he proudly voted against amnesty for millions living in the U.S.) for benefiting from government services that American citizens provide, he has for decades benefited from their cheap labor.

A news magazine in the senatorís home state has published an in-depth story with incriminating details that paint the portrait of a hypocrite politician who says one thing and does the opposite. And as the good senator, who is up for reelection this year, knows well itís a violation of federal law to hire illegal immigrants.

Yet for decades the lawmakerís highly profitable business, Smith Frozen Foods, has done just that. Located in the tiny eastern Oregon town of Weston, the company has nearly 500 employees, the majority of them from Mexico and some from Guatemala and El Salvador. The company refuses to use a federal database to check workersí immigration status because ďit doesnít work very well.Ē

Practically the entire town knows that the senatorís business is an illegal immigrant haven. A local attorney, who represents Smith employees in criminal cases unrelated to their work, said her clientsí immigration status is often revealed during checks when they are arrested and booked. The attorney estimates that more than 70% of the companyís workers are in the country illegally.

The insanity continues . . . .

Republicans and Democrats play this Good cop/Bad cop role on the stage, but in reality, both parties are on the same team and in favor of illegal aliens. It is annoying. You'd think with the way Republicans talk, they've got your back, but they're hypocrites, in bed with the corporations who hire illegal aliens.

Actions speak louder than words.

This guy has been trouble for a while. He is one who voted for amnesty after we shut down the switchboard and even many of the most pro-illegal senators switched to vote against because they did not want to vote yes on a failed bill- so it was a save your a$$ vote. He is also the one- I believe that flipp flopped with Feinstein's on the AGjobs bill -that thankfully failed. That would have given amnesty to illegal farm workers. Feinstein was screaming that fruit and vegetables would "rot on the vine" if we did not grant amnesty to illegal alien farm workers(and their families btw). Gordon Smith is one who votes against amnesty when it politically helps him. He is one-in my opinion that wants amnesty but will vote against it for political means.

What a scumbag

GREED.... that's what makes politicans go-round.
If they can do something that benefits them dollar-wise, they'll
do it, even it means at the expense of middle class Americans!

It's only after they get caught, we see them as a crooked politican... but
they are all crooks, but only some get caught! Many many politicans
were BIG business owners long before becoming a politican, and they
see that getting elected can and will protect them, give them a leg-up
in ways to insure the "right" bills get passed to help them make even more
money! it's just like when a politican here in Indiana purchased 2 acres of land
for $63,000 because he knew a new road was going to be put thru that land.
So about 6 months later, he sold the land for $500,000! He was on the commitee
who was overseeing where the final route of the new road would be. Of course.. not
a darn thing ever happened to him.
