It's likely that the ACLU, SPLC, La Raza, Mecha, the Mexican government, etc. will have a problem but

...you can get out of the car and a border agent will drive your car through the scanner.

Score one for the United States. I hope that EVERY border checkpoint has this device installed.

CNN was concerned with the rights of the people. I am more concerned with the rights of the people in the United States than I am with the rights of the supposed criminals that will be caught.

This is new? Ive seen x-rays at border checkpoints for a few years now, I thought.

Go to the link posted and check out the video. (Yea I know it has an annoying commercial you have to watch first). This is a WHOLE VEHICLE XRAY. It scans the entire car. Picks up drugs (Presumably only large amounts, not the roach in your glove box.) and illegals.

As regards privacy advocates, I tend to lean heavily in that direction, but I have never had a problem with searches upon entering into this country. The Supreme court in general has upheld that position.

Yeah, I was aware it was xrays of the entire vehicle. I figured it had been around for awhile.

But I dont see it as a violation of privacy. Its not like theyre going into your home or strip searching everyone that crosses or anything.

I prefer a quick xray scan to having my car pulled apart, seats and all, for random searches like happened to my mom one time crossing back into the US.
