"Others, like 8-year-old Leslee Acuitlapa, are asked to start new lives in countries that are foreign to them.
For almost a year, Leslee and her family have lived in Malinalco, a town of about 8,000 about 80 miles south of Mexico City. Its fresco-filled convent and Aztec temple draw weekend tourists, as does the nearby golf course. But there's also considerable poverty, and the Acuitlapas are living in it.

The parents should have weighed the ramifications of being here illegally: just like their legal 'brothers' (Wall Street and its crash) prior to all of the above doing so.

If they were actually here for "A better life" they would have. But their main concern was "freebies" any way they can get them.
Mexico, and the family's parents owe all that shame and guilt. When it is thrown in our face it becomes childish manipulation.
great post on completely on target!
Articles like these are meant to shame the US into bending, if not completely disregarding, our immigration laws because it 'hurts families' or dooms people 'to live in poverty'.
How is this the US's problem? How is Mexico and all of its citizens the US's sole responsibility? I have yet to get an answer for that question, because even the most liberal of illegal apologists know that Mexico is a sovereign nation that is responsible for its own citizens and its own social morass.

No kidding, not one mention of Mexico kicking these people to the curb just how "evil" the US is.
