How you know most of them agree with you? Have you spoke to every American in this country? You live in central Phoenix= one area. What about Americans buying houses they can't afford? Face the facts, you can't deport 12 million people. About time that even happen, some or majority of them will have legal citizenship or some kind of form saying they can stay. Again, you didn't answer my question, What illegal immigrants are you talking about?

ILLEGAL ALIENS & THE MORTGAGE MESS
Quote:

Bush: His lax policies enabled fraud.

September 24, 2008

AS panicked politicians prepare to fork over $1 trillion in taxpayer funding to rescue Wall Street, they've fingered regulation, deregulation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Community Reinvestment Act, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, both Bushes, greedy banks, greedy borrowers, greedy short-sellers and minority-home-ownership promoters for blame.
But there's one villain that has slipped notice: how illegal immigration, crime-enabling banks and open-borders Bush policies fueled the mortgage crisis. It's no coincidence that the areas hardest hit by the foreclosure wave - Loudoun County, Va., California's Inland Empire, Stockton and San Joaquin Valley, and Las Vegas and Phoenix - also happen to be some of the nation's largest illegal alien sanctuaries. Half of the mortgages to Hispanics are subprime. A quarter of all those subprime loans are in default and foreclosure.
Regional reports across the country have decried the subprime meltdown's impact on illegal-immigrant "victims." A July report showed that in seven of the 10 metro areas with the highest foreclosure rates, Hispanics were at least one-third of the population; in two of those areas - Merced and Salinas-Monterey, Calif. - Hispanics comprised half the population. The National Council of La Raza and its Development Fund have received millions in federal funds to "counsel" their constituents on obtaining mortgages with little to no money down; the group almost succeeded in attaching a $10 million earmark for itself in one of the housing bills passed this spring.
For the last five years, I've reported on the rapidly expanding illegal-alien home-loan racket. The top banks clamoring for their handouts as their profits plummet, led by Wachovia and Bank of America, launched aggressive campaigns to woo illegal-alien homebuyers. The quasi-governmental Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority guaranteed home loans to illegal immigrants.
The Washington Post noted in 2005: "Hispanics, the nation's fastest-growing major ethnic or racial group, have been courted aggressively by real-estate agents, mortgage brokers and programs for first-time buyers that offer help with closing costs. Ads proclaim: "Sin verificacion de ingresos! Sin verificacion de documento!" - which loosely translates as, 'Income tax forms are not required, nor are immigration papers.' "
Fraudsters also have engaged in house-flipping rings using illegal aliens as straw buyers. Among many examples the FBI cites: a conspiracy in Las Vegas involving a former Nevada First Residential Mortgage Company branch manager who directed loan officers and processors in the origination of 233 fraudulent Federal Housing Authority loans valued at over $25 million. The defrauders made and submitted false employment and income documentation for borrowers; most were illegal immigrants from Mexico. To date, the FBI reported, "Fifty-eight loans with a total value of $6.2 million have gone into default, with a loss to the Housing and Urban Development Department of over $1.9 million."
It's the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to lax Bush administration policies allowing illegal aliens to use "matricula consular cards" and taxpayer-identification numbers to open bank accounts, mortgage fraud has grown. Money-lenders still have no access to a verification system to check Social Security numbers before approving loans.
In an interview about rampant illegal-alien home-loan fraud, a spokeswoman for the US General Accounting Office told me five years ago: "Considering the size of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston and other large cities throughout the United States known to be inundated with illegal aliens, I don't think the federal government is willing to expose this problem for financial reasons as well as for fear of political repercussions."
The chickens are coming home to roost. Law-abiding taxpayers are going to pay for it.

Yes the mortgage crisis is very big and illegal aliens bare a huge responsibility in this mess. Please refrain from talking about issues of which you are ignorant. Specifically, the facts and reality surrounding the issue of illegal immigration.

You the one that is ignorant. Do you even know some illegal immigrants? Btw, Hispanics are not the only ones that have illegal immigrants in this country.

How do you know someone is illegal, unless you actually ask them yourself? Just because you don't speak English well or speak your native language out in public, don't mean your illegal.
How are illegal immigrants effecting you?

My mother's insurance rates nearly doubled when we moved to illegal-filled Northern VA. I live near a MS-13 hotspot which is enhanced by illegal immigration. My city's public schools are taking on an illegal alien influx from outer-beltway DC and it lost BOTH of our middle schools accreditiation. I dont even feel safe in the area i work in now because of the amount of illegal aliens in the area.

I bet Howard, MD don't even have alot of immigrants let alone illegal.

Every county in Metro DC has a sizable immigrant population. That also includes illegal aliens. Maryland is a sanctuary state so there are illegals in each county. Even Baltimore.

I hear about legal Americans committing way more crime than illegal immigrants. How do you know someone is illegal, unless you actually ask them yourself?

Both points have been argued many times on this forum.

it's really not that hard to deport these cockroaches.. first by having our borders secure..
keeping anymore from sneaking over. Just as the last ten years have been ignored allowing them to sneak over, the next 10 years will be utilized in heavy deportation.

Common sense tells us that if our borders were secure.. it would drastically reduce the
numbers. it would ensure the safety and reduce the number of Americans being killed
by said illegals. it would drastically reduce the numbers of illegal mommies having
welfare anchor babies.

Common sense also tells us that many will leave on thier own by having secured our
borders, many will still have relatives sob and if they can't get them over.. they'll leave to be with them.

We don't need to change the 14th. we need to adjust laws nationwide, making it a felony
renting, giving a job, harboring, and so-on. IF they can't get a job or housing many will
leave on thier own.. it's not that hard to firgure out.

So what if it takes the next 10 years to get rid of the ones here already... but by closing
our borders NOW.. sure would drastically reduce any new illegals from getting in!

the problem with americans today is that they cannot seem to put 2 +2 together.
the illegal immigrant population spurred the housing demand and subsequent boom. they qualified, as a minority group, for subprime loans that they could not actually pay for (along with others). not only that but they were able to put no money down and take equity out of these homes, giving them imaginary value they did not actually have. the banks were forced to give the sub-prime loans by activist lawyers like barack obama. (and he actually sued citibank to force the bad loans). then the greedy wall street types gambled in derivatives and got themselves in financial trouble when the housing market slowed down. then our corrupt democratic congress (with some corrupt republicans and a stupid president) bailed wall street out with taxpayer money. so don't say that the illegal immigrants were not any part of the problem! as our economy tanks, they will be demanding more social services that our collapsing economy cannot afford.

We don't have to worry about removing "12 million" of them (its really a lot more than that) all you have to do is enforce the laws. Make it illegal to rent to illegals, make it so they cannot collect subsidies. Prevent them from getting licenses (which Obama will probably start allowing). Go after anyone who employs them. Some states like Massachusetts requires health insurance for its citizens.

Like Oklahoma(HB 1048)....Since our new Law took effect, you could almost call OK. an Illegal Immigrant free state. I'm sure there are afew Illegals still here, but if there are, they're deep in hiding.

excellent point. all americans are saying is enforce the laws as they stand! unfortunately, we have a combination of a bad republican president and a bad democratic congress, with neither wanting to enforce the existing laws of this country......
