Southern Italy: Palermo and Sicily on her father's parents' side.

Actually; on a genetic level, most people from the British Isles, Ireland, Spain and Portugal are more alike along with most White Americans vs. a Spaniard as compared to a stereotypical Mexican.

Anybody here who lives in a state with a sizeable Hispanic population would take that information with a grain of salt. I live in a state with a fairly sizeable Hispanic population and I rarely meet people with a Spanish last name that would blend right in a crowd of NASCAR fans for example. And when I do meet one they are almost always half Anglo and not fully Hispanic, like my current girlfriend who is half Colombian but looks white because she is also a quarter German and a quarter Swedish.
White Hispanic and Latino Americans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The number of whites among the Hispanic population will always be overstated in any census; the number of Native American Hispanics and Black Hispanics will be greatly understated. Because of a strong white supremacist orientation in Hispanic/Latino culture, it is advantageous for someone who is not white to aspire toward/pretend to be white when asked to self-identify. Not many Latinos are actually white.

As you stated. Hence groups like 'brown pride' groups MEChA needing to watch their manners in Mexico and especially Spain.

Too: my G/F works for a blood bank and whenever she asks what race a Mestizo is..........said Latino almost always puts 'White' down on the paperwork-------never 'Indian'

never 'Indian'
Yeah funny that very few Hispanics in the U.S identify themselves as Indio. I remember when I first saw a Cinco De Mayo parade upclose I thought it looked like some kind of Native American parade because most of the participants had strong Indio features like this for example.

These girls look no different from the people that you see living in some Indian reservation in Arizona.
In one word: yes.

Although in all fairness: the word 'political' is more accurate.

Why I say that is there are many 'Anglos' with Spanish surnames from countries like Great Britain, Italy, France, Australia, etc.----------let alone Blacks and Asians (especially Filipinos).
OTOH: many 'Hispanics' (people from Latin America) do have non Spanish last names as well.
they arernt anglo. anglos are british/UK whites

true, english, french, irish, italian and so forth

Yeah, in the Dominican Republic lots of people are officially considered "indio," but in reality they are actually black. Sure, they might be less than 1/4 of Indian origin, and overwhelmingly African, but nobody in that country wants to "admit" to their blackness unless they look Senegalese.......
