The number of whites among the Hispanic population will always be overstated in any census; the number of Native American Hispanics and Black Hispanics will be greatly understated. Because of a strong white supremacist orientation in Hispanic/Latino culture, it is advantageous for someone who is not white to aspire toward/pretend to be white when asked to self-identify. Not many Latinos are actually white.
I'd disagree about the last part. White Latinos aren't as easily detectable.
Many Northern Mexican states are white majority, as well as Jalisco in central Mexico. Mexico City has a MASSIVE white population.
Even in L.A. if you go into some of the more settled and established old Latino neighborhoods in northeast L.A. which date back to the early 20th century you'd find a good number of white Mexican-Americans. In Texas you'll find MANY.
And in the US the number of whites from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Colombia makes up a high percentage of those groups.
That's a fighting word to someone of Irish ancestry.
Here in Arizona: being mistaken for 'Hispanic' can be bigger fightin' words----------one huge reason that there is little/no 'Sopranos' type attitude by people of Italian lineage here.
As for the 'Irish': if anything; Irish surnames here are relatively rare, believe it or not.
Believe it or not: I self identify as 'Anglo'------------despite being 1/2 Hungarian and (probably) 1/4th Scots-Irish with the rest English and possibly a smidge of American Indian.
Its not always about skin tone half of the time Spanish( Spain) people look different from Scottish whites by their features.
Ever heard of a Black Irish?? Europeans, Americans and Hispanics all come on different colors and shapes. You can't tell distinguish between a blond Spaniard, a brunette German, an American or a white Cuban.

Baloney. I can EASILY distinguish between a blond Spaniard and a brunette German....their hair color is different. I can ALSO tell the difference between an American, and a white Cuban. Americans come in ALL colors...white Cubans are white.

Some people are dense and miss my point entirely.
I understand...the EXACT same thing happens to me....
I thought this thread was supposed to be about cultural differences, not biological.
There ARE no cultural differences....ALL cultures are "good"..they just show their 'goodness' in different ways.
