Arizona governor tapped to head Department of Homeland Security - TwinCities.com

Quote:
Napolitano opposed ... several bills that targeted illegal immigrants. Instead, she looked to the systems and people that make illegal immigration possible: she ordered state contractors to ensure that their employees are legal [and] set up an undercover unit to catch forgers of identity documents ... In mid-August she declared a state of emergency in Arizona to direct more funds to protecting border areas from illegal crossings."
If the following quoted is true then I really really hope that she becomes the head of the DHS.

I don't believe you take a failed national immigration policy out on children," the governor said. "They don't choose where they're going to be born. They don't choose where they're going to be brought."
Illegal Immigration and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano Vs Congress, Bush - Associated Content
Quote:
Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano came out in favor of the Comprehensive Immigration Amnesty bill. It's really not a big surprise seeing as how many times she's opposed actual enforcement proposals in her state through vetoes. She has vetoed many and only after voters actually had a chance to vote on measures - because they were on the ballot
Napolitano calls the current system a "silent amnesty".

If she was on this board, she would have been vilified for her views.

For the time I lived in Arizona, she was like a broken record on illegal aliens and the border, ". . enforcement is a Federal responsibility", as a viable excuse to do nothing, and spewed la raza propaganda just like the Phoenix Police Department does.

We'll see what happens, but I suspect the worst by her appointment.
