Are you sure about the hispanic part? LOL J/k I have no doubt in my mind that there are many many fine hispanic legal immigrants. The fact that they chose to respect our laws and enter legally speaks volumes about their character.
But why is that specific to each ethnic group? Would you make the same disclaimer for Korean immigrants - that only the legal ones are capable of humility and bravery? I think they are ALL brave, considering what some endured to come to this country (legal or otherwise). And JDubs comment about her overall image of Hispanics was not only insulting, but highly inaccurate from my experiences.

Who is "they?"
Isn't the title of this thread:

Immigrant doesn't blame pilot for deadly crash? As opposed to the interrogation of JDubsMom?

Sorry, I'm not trying to interrogate YOU - just wondering why race was brought into the story (by the reporters and posters here). I don't see why race and immigration need to be involved, when we're talking about a tragic incident that had nothing to do with either... sadly, that seems to be how things work in this race-obsessed country.

Neither do I, but somehow the majority of IA's and their supporters who frequent this forum seem to be obsessed with their race/ethnicity and blame the posters because the majority of illegal aliens in America are primarily from SOB. It has yet to occur to them that the majority of the articles pertaining to illegal alien crime are indicative that the majority of illegal aliens here are from SOB and other parts of latin America. Thus they are guilty of committing the majority of the crimes.

As for race being brought up by the reporter, I can't answer for him.

I'm not denying that race is not important in this country --- but in this case, I believe reporters are stressing the immigrant angle because it adds interest to an already tragic story. I mean, here is a guy who immigrated with his wife to a new country, had two babies and his mil came from Korea to help out -- and they all died in a freak accident. Plus, the lone survivor is taking an incredibly high road about it. That is why the immigrant angle is being played in the media -- it has nothing to do with jdubsmom or any latent racism this country may have towards Koreans.

Why not just 20 million immigrants like him?

I know, it does make for more of a human-interest story... I just get sick of the media playing up race & national origin, because it only fuels the issues we already have here. I remember the "bad PC" Koreans received after the Virginia Tech shootings, and how it sparked a whole slew of anti-Korean racism. There was a news article which quoted a Filipina woman saying she was relieved he was Korean, because the original reports just said Asian, and she was worried about racist backlash. Sad, huh?
