Study: Illegal immigrants' care costs state $677 million
AUSTIN — The state of Texas and local hospital districts spent an estimated $677 million to provide health care to illegal immigrants in a year, a new study says.
The survey, issued by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, said that most of the money — $597 million — was spent by local hospital districts for the immigrants' care during the state's fiscal year that ended on Aug. 31, 2007.
Lawmakers from both parties said they were not surprised by the millions spent and expressed hope that the report, required by the 2007 Legislature, will help prompt Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform legislation.

There is no need to pass anything "comprehensive". Strict enforcement of the laws already on the books, no trials, no interpreters, verify illegal status and swift deportation of all illegal aliens apprehended; end birthright citizenship, cut off all social services and welfare, finish building the wall and post armed forces at the border. Since they are nothing but a bunch of whiny cowards anyway, cutting them off and forcing them to remain at home may make them grow up, and grow a pair big enough to demand humane treatment and freebies from their oligarchies and their own government.

My heart goes out to those of you who have to pay for and put up with that mess. I am fortunate that my daily life is not affected by this invasion. If I ever find myself living amongst a majority of illegals, I'd leave the country. A couple of friends of mine have walked away from expensive homes that they couldn't sell because they hated living in alien infested, tax draining California.

It's the little things that really torque me off. If I go fishing I have to buy a license, they don't. If I drive to the store I have to have a smogged legal vehicle which I take in to be smogged. I must keep my dl up to date and have to worry about red light cameras and speeding tickets, they don't. I must show proof of insurance, they don't. I have to make a co-pay at the local Dr. office, they don't. I get questioned for insurance papers at the local ER after an 8 hour wait, they don't. I get to shell out for the 6-6 program at my kid's school. Guess what, they don't. They get to use a wic card since their kid is a Citizen even though they aren't. I know a ton of Citizens that don't qualify because they don't have kids and make just over the limit for welfare but they are honest and list ALL of their income at tax time vs working under the table and lying about it. Geesh, I'm seeing a pattern here.

Well, after you made that list, I have to rescind my original statement. As a taxpayer and law abiding citizen, I am affected by all of the above mentioned. All of which ticks me off beyond anything imaginable and made me determined to harrass whatever politician I have to, as often as I have to in order to get rid all things illegal alien. I would die and go to hell with a smile on my face before being subjected to living around them.

Well, I get to live right smack near the middle of them and since the BP only has reign for a couple of miles near the border they treat it just like they do TJ. Sit around and all is good. Trash it all and walk away from it since they rent it. I'm talking about Linda Vista. If you can find a house without bars within 1 mile of the main drag and grocery store I'd like to see pictures of it. I have never seen so many cop cars and specialty cops like K-9 and gang squad. The best part is knowing we tax payers fund all the policing for people not supposed to be breathing US air.

You do have to help pay for it. The hospitals in Texas get all kinds of federal grants to pay for the free care they provide for the citizens of Mexico.

If they didn't they'd go under. We have had at least 3 close that were cut off of Federal funding. That then moved the problem to other Hospitals...errr I mean Illegal Alien free primary care facilities. They shouldn't even call them Hospital ERs anymore.

After 1Angry Taxpayer pointed out the financial aspect, I realized to what degree I misspoke. I was more intently focused on being forced to live around them and enduring their: gangs, drugs, anchor babies, graffiti saturated buildings and 24 hr. spanish speaking presence. That being said ITA with both you guys.

Ewww . . . I can't imagine the horror of living with that. My heart truly goes out to those who are forced to live under those circumstances. That is why I keep up the fight by any means necessary. No American should have to suffer through that type of agony and misery
