Ever look at a group of civic leaders....or industrialists...or 'Miss Universe' contestants....from Bolivia...or Paraguay...or Peru...or (formerly) South Africa? Lighten the skin and eyes and she has the same features as any Euro.

I think that's the complaint some people have. This woman doesn't have racial features of a Mayan Indian or other. Europeans can have black hair and dark eyes, you don't have to be pasty white or have blue eyes and very light hair to be a Caucasian. Beauty contestants are just like Barbie dolls made from different shades of beiges and browns. Keep the nose width the same, make them all tall and willowy - just change the shade.

Yeah but ArizonaBear was referring specifically to Northern Europeans and most of them don't have black hair and brown eyes. I was pointing out that ArizonaBear was wrong when he said North European features is considered the ideal standard of beauty in Mexico because if that were the case than the Miss Mexico beauty pageant would be dominated by women who look like they came straight out of Sweden but that is certainly not the case. The Whitest looking beauty contestants at Miss Mexico pageants tend to look Southern European at best.

They don't understand the "global" concept. I'll admit, I thought much along the same lines they do 25 years ago; but times change. I've learned more. I've come to appreciate the benefits of having a global economy, along with understanding the drawbacks.

I said nothing about hair color. But you did confirm that fair skin is a social advantage in Mexico. Several 'La Raza' type 'brown' Latinas have admitted to me in the past they hoped their children/grandchildren, etc. come out with light skin and eyes vs. looking Mestizo. That I found sad.
