I was under the impression that Liberia was set-up by freed slaves (and look at how successful it is) so why are they immigrating back to the land of the oppressor?

As to another question posted. Why should a business owner be responsible for who they employ? Because the law says they can only employ legal citizens. ie green card holders, folks with working visa's or American citizens. That's why.
Why should land lords be held accountable for knowingly renting to an illegal? Because it can be argued that they are harboring and abetting a criminal.

Keep in mind that you are conversing with a party who has no problem with people being in this country illegally. In fact, many of those who post on this board are illegals, and thus will find any reason in the world to support all things illegal.
In addition to their ignorance and ignoring our laws, more likely than not they are also clueless about our rental codes and standards in the US. Remember these are people who think it's okay for 50 people to live in a 2 bedroom house.
