Untold thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing at a time when hundreds of thousands of citizens and legal residents are stuck waiting years for a spot.
Illegal immigrants make up a tiny portion of the 7.1 million people in federal housing, according to government statistics. But authorities may be unaware of thousands more, and critics say no illegal immigrant should get housing benefits.
The issue made headlines in November with news that Zeituni Onyango, an aunt of President-elect Barack Obama, was living in Boston public housing while in the country illegally.

not "many" ------ a sunami avalanche displacing AA on a national level. why do you think south los angles went from 60% AA to 60% latino in 12 years. bek AA decided that just cant live unless they move to charlotte? AA has fallen from 14% to 11% in a few short years. there is a reason.

Not a Black person here admittedly: if I had to choose between today's LA and Charlotte, NC----------it would be the latter city.

Like most of the US, North Carolina appears to be overrun with illegal aliens as well.

(202) 225-1976 Illegal Aliens Are Hurting North Carolina
This week the U.S. Senate has been debating illegal immigration.

There are currently 12 million illegal aliens in the United States. North Carolina has the 8th largest illegal alien population in the county estimated at 300,000. There is fierce debate everywhere on what to do with illegal aliens who have sneaked across our borders.

As we engage in this debate, I want to share some statistics that I believe support cracking down on illegal immigration.

That's because North Carolina gave them drivers licenses (Breeder Documents). So they could work for the meat packing plants. Big business and the politicians are to blame. Money is the Root of all Evil.

That theory is wrong. Black people are leaving South Central because it's South Central.
A lot of people are leaving California in general because they are realizing their money goes a lot further in other places.

As Black population decreases in LA, it jumped in the Inland Empire, Palmdale, desert cities.

It has nothing to do with 0.4 percent of people living in housing possibly being illegal.

It just happens that Latinos are moving into the inexpensive neighborhoods.

You might want to talk to Terry Anderson about that. I am sure that he would disagree with you. He is black and lives in South Central and he is very much against illegal aliens in this country.

Money may be the root of all evil but it is what makes the world go 'round!

It doesn't include housing funded by state and local governments, where eligibility requirements vary. Massachusetts, where Obama's aunt occupied one of about 50,000 state-funded units, doesn't ask immigration status under a 1977 federal consent decree in a class action lawsuit that prohibits the state from denying the benefit to illegal immigrants.
These state funded units are what we call section-8 housing in Boston. They are regual apartments privately owned and usully triple deckers in sections of town where people are not exactly flocking to. The down side is that as a property owner, when you sign up, basically your are giving up the right to determine who lives in your buildings. Nearly impossible to kick out unwanted residents. It is a contract with the devil but I have no sympathy for the owners. They are slum lords. I compare them to the corrupt business owners that many on this forum speak of providing sub standard wages and unsafe working conditions.

Nooo the crux of it all is in this paragraph from the imbedded link...

I know there is no practical means to send 12 million illegal aliens home. We don’t have the tools, resources or manpower. That is why at some point in the future we will have to discuss setting up a foreign labor program that gives illegals incentives to go back to their country and apply to come here legally. However, we can’t begin discussions on this until our borders are secure and we are enforcing out immigration laws. Again, no immigration program will work if we can’t control our borders.
