After reading through this thread, I think it's entirely possible that Shawna shot her estranged husband....and for whatever reason he decided not to accuse her, or maybe he didn't see her coming after him. Christmas is always a time of lots of domestic violence.

Tuesday, the Pima County Sheriff's Department released the mother's emotional 911 call.
Dispatch: 911 what's your emergency?
Mother: Someone came in and shot my daughter and my husband.
Dispatch: Shot them?
Dispatch: And they shot your husband and daughter. Are they unconsious?
Mother: Yes, she's bleeding out of her mouth.
Dispatch: How old is your daughter?
Mother: She's 10.
Dispatch: Where were they shot?
Mother: In the head. In the head.
And before she can finish, she's interrupted by the suspects — returning — to shoot more.
Dispatch: Are the people still there who shot them?
Mother: they're coming back in. They're coming back in. (noises and the sounds of several gunshots follow)
“Get the (expletive) out of here. (gunshot) (gunshot) enough!” can be heard.
After the final gunfight, the mother returns to the phone and tells the story.
Mother: They shot me and i pretended i was dead. And my daughter was crying so they shot her too.
She explains to the dispatcher what happened. The suspects pretended to be officers looking for an escaped prisoner. She described who deputies now believe was Shawna Ford, Jason Bush, and Albert Gaxiola.
Mother: All i could hear is they were looking for money and they stole other stuff.
