Jan. 4: Harry Reid, Richard Engel, roundtable - Meet the Press, online at MSNBC- msnbc.com

SEN. REID: "We need comprehensive immigration reform." That was a conversation I had with John McCain. Yes, we need comprehensive immigration reform. And what does that mean? It means we have to make sure our borders are protected, our northern and southern borders. We have to do something about the millions of people here who are undocumented. We have to put them on, on a pathway to legalization. Does that mean that they get to the head of the line? Of course not. They'd have penalties and fines and learn English and stay out of trouble. We have to also do something on a guest worker program and we have to do something about the employer sanctions that works. John McCain believes that should happen. I believe that should happen. That's...

This traitor needs to be put out to pasture.

During the immigration debates, I watch him fight long and hard in the Senate for legalizing illegal aliens. He wanted them to have a golden key to the country in their mouths! He also, stated that he has 50 Casinos in the state of Nevada that he’s planning on building and needs the workers (illegal aliens) to build and maintain them. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY is that what illegal aliens are about! All the U.S. politicians think, To Hell With the Taxpayers, what can they do to us we’re "Royalty" and we can't be touched!

Dear Mr. President, President-elect, and Congress: An attempt and insistence on shoving any 'Immigration Betrayal of America' reform bill down our throats, will be viewed as transparently seditious. Patriots have made it abundantly clear that legislation which rewards lawbreakers with citizenship or social services is anathema. We did not elect you to defend foreign scofflaws. Illegals MUST confront and change the corrupt and inept leaders of their own gifted Nations to secure democracy, as apparently must we. Under your watch, America has been invaded without a shot. Citizens expect vigorous enforcement of EXISTING immigration laws; not the bestowal of cherished gifts on they who direspect our Nation by breaking and entering, marching, demonstrating, protesting, issuing demands, and flying foreign flags on OUR SOIL! This enrages and sickens us, as do your venal excuses for ignoring the will of U.S.citizens whom you have sworn to represent. Do NOT betray this Nation. If you cannot in good conscience, uphold your oath and perform your duty, you must honorably resign and make way for Patriots. To do otherwise is to ensure your names and legacy deservedly join the ranks of loathsome Quisling's. BFD I'm sure, to the majority who eagerly and tirelessly plot the sale of precious citizenship, in a quest for votes and cheap labor.

The path
Learn English
Pay a very large fine
Get a sponsor from an e-verified employer or you have 6 months to do so then gone
If you are using Social Services then another fine
Just like welfare, govt agencies will be allowed to check your house to make sure you are complying
Once made a citizen you will get it revoked if one slip up
Make sure Uncle Sam is in it hard for tax return status and information

The bottom line is to stop the sucking sound of millions of Illegals ravaging social services.

How are they going to the back of the line? The only way to make that a legitimate requirement for the pathway to citizenship is to make them go back to their countries of origin and wait their turn, just as other immigrants are waiting their turn in their home countries. By allowing illegals to stay within the US while they wait for their green card is nothing more then rewarding bad behavior. Learn English? Stay out of trouble? These things should be a given and they shouldn't need to be spelled out. At anyrate, who wants to bet that for the illegals on the path they will be under the same scrutiny as they are now -- none.
I would be all for allowing illegals the opportunity to return to the US legally. Give them a free pass for the time they had already spent here. But they must return home and fill out the proper forms, pay the fees and undergo the vetting process all other immigrants go through. Some will make the cut, others will not. But that is the only fair way to do it. Unfortunately, illegals and their lobbyists have an unnatural sense of entitlement which would make this suggestion seem 'unfair'. To them I say -- ask people who are waiting for their visas in UN refugee camps what is fair, or people who have studied hard and have an actual skill needed by the US what is fair.

Allowing illegals to pay a fine and STAY in this country and WORK simply makes a MOCKERY of our legal immigration system. Illegal border jumpers are allowed to STAY in this country and WORK while millions of ACTUALLY QUALIFIED applicants are waiting patiently OUTSIDE the US for their turn to immigrate? I'd say that that's putting illegal border jumpers at the head of the line. We do know that the Democratic politicians will be pushing for the steaming pile of Obama amnesty for mainly one reason and one reason only. Votes. These mostly poor, relatively uneducated illegals, who have been blatantly hispandered to by the Democrats, will all mostly become Democratic voters if legalized. That's what an amnesty is really all about.

The scumbag employers of illegals don't want a steaming pile of Obama amnesty because they won't be able to exploit the illegals becoming legal like they have been. These new illegals becoming legal will want more pay? Not to worry for the scumbag employers of illegals. Since a steaming pile of Obama amnesty will in no way stop illegal immigration, the scumbag employers of illegals will just wait for the next wave of illegals breaking in and hire them instead of the newly legalized illegals.

Don't forget -- both republicans and democrats alike have been guilty of either hispandering and/or sucking up to businesses who profit by illegal labor.

Well, the truly incompetent jorge thought that if he could push an amnesty through and get credit for it, he would increase his favorability among Hispanics from about 40% to whatever. Today's Republicans figure that at LEAST 2/3 rds of amnestied illegals will become Democratic voters. After all, the demographic of poor, uneducated, can't speak English, and wanting to go on the gov teat clearly fits the Democratic party, guilty of BLATANT INCESSANT Hispandering. Most Republican politicans today are fighting amnesty because their survival depends on stopping amnesty. Democratic politicians, on the other hand, are obviously fighting the Republicans fighting amnesty. Democratic politicians, from their gated communities, are salivating at the thought of all of these new lifetime welfare voters.

Both parties are guilty of kowtowing to various lobbies....the result is the same and that would be amnesty and/or a continued lax immigration policy that looks the other way as millions of people have streamed into the country illegally.
If republicans are now fighting it, it is because their constituents are on their backs about it. The same holds true for democratic senators as well. All politicians want what is best for their party --- but even more then that, they want to be reelected.

More than 2/3rds of amnestied illegals would become DEMOCRATIC VOTERS. Do you actually think that Republican politicians are pushing for that coveted 1/3? 2/3 rds of a hypothetical 20 million illegal aliens is 13.3 million voters for the Dems and 6.6 million voters for the Repubs. That would be an advantage of 6.7 million new voters for the Democrats. So again, who is salivating for that steaming pile of Obama amnesty.
