Believe it or not, this isn't the only country where are a lot of foreign language is being spoken. And there isn't a whole lot of tension between these cultures here in the U.S.
Someone going through this forum, or hanging out with the local nativist organization might think differently...but on the streets, things seem copacetic to me.
The whole multiculturalism=war/destruction of America/end of the world/cancellation of your favorite tv series- theory is paranoid junk.
Mexican culture and American culture aren't nearly different enough to cause too much of a ruckus.
They are both European based Christian cultures that have very superficial differences.
This isn't an Israeli-Palestinian type situation. This is the good old, several time repeated fear of the newcomers type situation. But like history has shown time and time again, when the newcomers stop being newcomers(as in the next generation), it's all good.
Illegal immigration is one thing, and that needs to be addressed somehow and stopped.

Maybe you underestimate the fear of the staggering numbers of uninvited illegal Mexican scabs everywhere in this country. A corrupt dysfunctional fed gov that refuses to kick the illegal Mexican scabs out creates a seething just below the surface. There is balkanization everywhere now where there didn't used to be. It isn't just that it needs addressed and stopped, the bigger picture is that our Society needs to rewrite some rules on how we distribute our own wealth among legal citizens and not leave the door open to the bank vault to non-Americans.

The odds are better than 50/50 that Canada will break up over Quebec IMHO---------unless Quebec is forced to go by the same rules. Read that Quebec which is presently monolingual 'French' is made to be bilingual (English). The rest of Canada is forced to also use French already.

From the little that I have read on the subject, (you are far more knowledgeable than I in this regard) I agree with you. I will educate myself on this topic for future discussion as this is of great interest to me, It appears to have many parallels with regards to America's pending state of collapse.
