Now blacknight, thatís not true. Being a supporter of illegal immigration does not make one a DREAMie, or an illegal alien. However, you know there are DREAMies posting on this forum. Itís not illegal for them to post here; itís just illegal for them to be in this country. To my knowledge, our immigration laws do not encompass cyberspace.

Correct: I was strongly 'advising' that anybody here in the USA illegally leave before being thrown out bodily by ICE.

It just happens that I was using City Data as a means to transmit said warning.

BTW -- a little off topic -- but how many tacos and burritos can you make with six cases of meat?

In University, such a case would be discussed in terms of cultural relativism and how we should not judge others based upon how they operate and how their customs are. These types of behaviors should be held with the same reverence as a religious belief; and judging such behaviors with an American bias is unjustified and inappropriate.

We are so eager to not call something bad or evil or inappropriate. There is a relativism that has become a part of society. It is this same thought process and tolerance that has led to acceptance of a variety of bad behaviors.

There are many cultures who believe in arranged marriages; and often some type of payment (often from the wife to be’s family) in return. There are societies that support female genital mutilation or various rituals that have the propensity to cause great physical harm. I’m happy enough if the college professors believe no judgment of right or wrong is appropriate; with the contingency that these things occur outside of legal control and governance of the United States.

At the point someone moves to the U.S., whether they like it or not, part of the move to a new country would typically involve learning how things are done and what the laws are. Part of the problem with lack of assimilation, is that this person may be entirely unaware that what they have done is illegal even though it may be completely legal and quite typical within their society.

The obligation remains on the person living in the U.S. to be aware of these laws; however, keeping oneself out of the larger society, not learning the language and not making an attempt to become aware of the culture leads to errors in judgment and behavior that is unacceptable in a western society.
