macmeal, what do you call Modern Black People? "Black" people in USA have European ancestors. To be white, you have to be only white ancestors, but to be black, no matter if there are white people among your ancestors?
What you don't understand, is i live in France, but i do my best to make people get conscious of what they ancestors have done, and how we today can repair it. You know, many people in France don't want people from Maghreb or the rest of Africa to come in France. However, the european looted (and still loot) this continent (just like Australia and America), but many don't know that, and those who know don't want to feel guilty because the past is the past. However, this past still has consequences on the present.
, .
What I normallly call Modern Black People is "sir"--or "ma'am"--until I know their names. Other than that. I normally don't "call" them anything special. They are "black" by society's convention, just as any huge group of individuals are---"described" by society, as well as "self-described"...Just as YOU have described Europeans, Africans, and Americans, even though you haven't MET most of us.

Sorry that some French people don't want some African folks moving into France. Whether that's a reflection of French "nastiness" or immigrant behavior, I couldn't say. I'd have to know more. I WILL say that there are probably more African immigrants in France than there are French immigrants in Africa---and that MANY people, in MANY countries DO take exception to large groups of arriving immigrants. MOST of the world has very FEW immigrants. Whether this means they're "nicer" than the French, I don't know. (If you don't ALLOW immigrants, you can't very well MISTREAT them---but does this mean you're "nice"?).

South Korea and Iceland have no racial problems....they also have virtually NO racial minorities. Are they "nicer" countries than France? Hard to say, without knowing more.

One could say that "Women in France cause more automobile accidents than women in Saudi Arabia"....and that statement would be true. But is this because French women are bad drivers, or because Saudi women aren't allowed to drive automobiles at ALL?

I STILL think you'd be happier if you left France, and moved to a more enlightened society. It doesn't sound to me like France is your "cup of tea"...

Guess it's a good thing you're not me, because I'm proud as hell to be an American.

I'm sure the crackheads and murderers would be happy to let you in, so go for it.

YES. Most TOURISTS learn enough of the local language to get by, and Americans moving to another country aren't stupid enough to believe they can live in a country without knowing the language.

Is that to imply that Americans are stupid? Looks like with your arrogant attitude you're in the right country, surrounded by your own kind. I have no doubts about my intelligence or the intelligence of any American who has been educated in an American school, I do however have SERIOUS doubts about yours.

I certainly know where China is--- I have a dear friend who visits Tokyo each year and sends me postcards. And I have a "china cabinet" in my HOME, so I'm not totally ignorant......and I often eat sushi !!

I just WISH those Chinese hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor without warning us first. THAT wasn't nice at ALL. VERY sneaky !!!...

As far as Germany goes, I don't know TOO much, but I DO love their linguini and I like it when they play all that "norteno" music (I LOVE tubas and cymbals !!) I like the Philippines, too, and I often use Manila envelopes to help their economy. One time I went to eat 'baluts' but they were spoiled so I threw them out.

You may SAY that Americans are "ignorant" and "apathetic"....well, I don't KNOW, and I don't CARE......

(I'll bet YOU can't name the capital of Chicago, either---OR the date of "Cinco de Mayo")..

It CAN get wearisome, I agree. But I figure I better "endure" it. It's the only way I can atone for what my ancestors did...just listen, keep my mouth shut, and learn...

I have no guilt about what any of my ancestors may have done--------it is simply not my problem.

Remember: I am not 100% 'White' either according to family legend.

Default USA and all Europeans should do the same

Australia's new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has delivered a historic apology to the country's Aboriginal community.
In the first act of parliament today, he apologised to the Stolen Generations - young Aboriginal children taken from their parents in a policy of assimilation which lasted from the 19th century to the late 1960s.
==> BBC World Service - News - Australia says sorry

America should do the same? Why should we apologize to Australian aborigines?
