Default Ramos and Compean

FOX news has just announced that Bush has commuted Ramos and Compean's sentences. When I first put on the tv, they were using the term "pardoned", it has now been changed to commuted. While I am so happy they will be set free, I was hoping for a pardon as opposed to commutation. According to Fox news, their wives will be on the Glenn Beck show at 5:00.

Has anyone else heard anything?

I guess we posted at the same time-hopefully a mod can merge the threads. I wanted a pardon but I am so very happy that they will be going home. Their wives are scheduled to be on Glenn Beck on Fox at 5:00. God Bless them all.

Just heard on the news that it was in fact a "pardon" so I dunno now...not certain I know the difference, frankly.

Honestly, what a relief. It was so disturbing.

It's just...like, why couldn't this have happened long ago though? What, he had to wait until his detractors' opinions no longer mattered?

They were commuted-according to the news link- which means the conviction still stands and basically are let go with time served. A pardon would wipe out the conviction altogether.

The important thing is that they are coming home and they can work on getting a full pardon while they are out!!

I have been praying so hard for this as have others and I thank God these brave and wonderful men will soon be home with their families.

Bush picks the last day of his term to correct this injustice. Typical idiot leadership.

However, finally these two men are free at last. After they see their families they should sue the who had them locked up.

It's the least he could do, since it was the Bush Justice Dept that made such a huge case out of that incident and convicted these two Border Patrolmen.

That conviction had the desired effect, though; the Border Patrol pulled back and was less aggressive, allowing illegal immigration to increase. Bush's corpoarate pals love having a huge underclass of subminimum wage workers in the USA. It keeps the pressure on the American workforce and holds down our wages and benefits.

Mission accomplished.
