There's a huge difference between acknowledging Mexicans make up the largest percentage of illegal aliens(I know you've read my theory that it has to do with location more than anything, rather than culture), and using that fact as an excuse to bash Mexicans in general as well as Mexican culture.
But whatever, if you want to think you made a good point, or a point at all with that comment, please don't mind me.

As for the rest of the stuff, it's a bunch of putting words in my mouth(when did I say the impact of illegals on the infrastructure isn't a valid concern?), and the same old complaining.

I like the direction the administration is heading on immigration. Cracking down on employers is one good step to stop further illegal immigration. Improving technology and manpower on the border is another one. Working closely with Mexico is a good idea for the long run, a good farsighted gameplan.
These are things we should be agreeing on.

Giving those in this country illegally who are in good standing(those who are not, will be deported. good.) a chance to redeem themselves by paying a fee and starting the immigration process from the beginning is something I agree with. I believe in forgiveness and redemption, and the administration wants to offer them that. Make taxpayers out of those who are here, get them on the grid, and make it harder for anyone else to come illegally using the other parts of the plan(cracking down on employers, strengthening border).

I like this plan, and you're still complaining about something.
If you want to regurgitate some of the stuff that's been posted on here that's fine.
There's other people in the world you want here instead, you don't like amnesty, Reagan, uneducated, let's try to deport them all, wic checks, yadda yadda yadda.
I get it.
Can we leave it at that?

You act as though millions of people suddenly burdening the already overstressed social service networks is nit picking.
And really, I am regurgitating? Let's see your points about illegal immigration -- too many to deport, just trying to make a living -- yep, those are some new and inventive ideas on the situation

Obviously we do agree with the Obama plan where it addresses businesses that hire illegals, and I do understand the diplomatic necessities of working with Mexico. I also see how Mexico has 'played' our government in the past, so I cannot say that I trust their motives. (but then this was W we are talking about, and god knows its not hard to play that idiot)
I do think Obama is a bit vague on securing the borders. Democrats as a principle didn't like the fence, or more accuarately what it represented so who knows how Obama will keep the borders secure. My suspicion is very similiar to Ws which is to say nominally at best.

As to the illegals that are already here.....you say you would weed out the bad. By that do you just mean those that have committed violent crimes or those that have been arrested for DUI, drug possession, identity theft? If the criteria for deportation was expanded to those crimes as well perhaps it just may be somewhat workable. But if the plan is to turn a blind eye to crimes that would have me in jail (ID theft, for example) then I cannot get behind it.

Keep cracking down on the illegals; as it stands------------they are indeed acting like rats fleeing a sinking ship (our crashing economy).

Now is the time to post lots of good cats along our southern border and do away with birthright citizenship for Anchor Babies.

Those who will be allowed a chance to pay a fee and start an immigration process are those who are in good standing.
Hopefully those who have come here to commit crimes will be deported.
Hopefully those who came here to make a living will be the ones staying.

The plan also says to crack down on businesses from hiring new illegals. It also says strengthening the border. It also says working more with Mexico to prevent future illegal immigration. Whether you guys like it or not, a better Mexico will mean less illegal immigration. Whether you guys like it or not, we need to work with Mexico.

COMPROMISE. Stop thinking of this as a rat problem, and think of it as a human problem.
What criteria should be used to determine who is in “good standing?” Let’s see…..

Have you ever committed identity theft?
Have you ever used a fake or stolen SSN?
Have you ever committed tax evasion?
Have you ever committed fraud?
Have you ever driven without a valid driver’s license and insurance?
Have you ever committed robbery, rape, murder, pedophilia?
Have you ever given birth for the sole purpose of obtaining tax-funded benefits?
Have you ever trashed a neighborhood?
Have you ever entered this country more than once illegally?
Have you ever been a member of a gang?
Will you require government assistance?
Are you illiterate?
Are you lacking marketable skills?
Are you a high school drop out?

If the answer to ALL of the above is NO, we may consider you for the coveted path to citizenship. We only need immigrants who will benefit this country, respect our laws, respect our citizens, and will not be a drain on the taxpayers of this country.

I think we may be able to accommodate the remaining 100 illegal aliens who pass the “good standing” test.

100?

That number may be high.

Do any of you get the feeling that since Obama was inaugurated that the pro illegal fan club has just crossed the Rubicon into total desperation? Why I say that is their rhetoric is flat out childish at best and derogatory at worst.
