i know the situation is a bit different given the freedom of border crossings within the EU, but would such tactics work in the US?

British Workers Protest Hiring of Foreign Laborers - washingtonpost.com

why havent US workers become as riled as the brits? for all those complaining about jobs going to foreigners, why not coordinate protests.

Because if you promote protectionist policies when discussing jobs or trade, you are dubbed a racist, a xenophobe, a backwards-looking enemy of progress, or worse.

You can't simultaneously support illegal immigration and job protectionism, by the way. That just doesn't wash.
