40000 Undocumented Immigrants Detected By New Border System (http://www.kbmt12.com/news/state/39206067.html - broken link) United States border patrol agents near El Paso now have some new technology to stop illegal immigration. The new system which just arrived from Tuscon, Arizona is expected to make a big difference. It can "see" for up to 10 miles away and scan 180 degrees in about 10 seconds. Once it detects movement, the camera zooms in for a better picture of what is causing the motion detected. The system detected about 40,000 potential undocumented immigrants in the last three months of 2008. Now, the El Paso sector has five mobile surveillance systems in operation. They cost more than a half million per system.
