FOXNews.com - Arizona Rancher Who Stopped Illegal Immigrants at Border Now Fighting $32 Million Lawsuit - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals — seeking $32 million in damages — who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border, the Washington Times reported Monday.

The rancher, Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home, the newspaper reported.

Can we round up their lawyers and send them back to Mexico with the immigrants?

Dumb on his part due to danger, but this suit should never even have had a hearing.

its not about right and wrong. its about lawyers.
self defense and property rights have been criminalized.
the heros of my childhood, eliot ness and the untouchables would all be in jail today and the men they jailed free.

Why didn't the Rancher just shoot them all and bury them right where they fell? Who would ever know?

I agree. It's the same as if a crook breaks into your home and hurts himself...he can sue you for his trouble!
Don't even get me started on lawyers...LOL!

The federal government should pay his legal fees for doing their job for them.

The Federal Government should let the Border Patrol do its job.
Businesses that hire illegal aliens need to be boycotted and reported. As in your local scrap yard/recycler, construction companies, landscaping busineses, restaurants, etc..
There needs to be tougher punishments for identity fraud and theft.
This rancher is in the right. Now the legal system will be tied up for years on the taxpayers' dime so a bunch of criminals can have their day in court in a country where they shouldn't even be anyway.
The lawyers gave these simple peasant (and most likely illiterate) people the idea they could sue. The attorneys' State Bars should ban them from practising.
On a lighter note...the sun is shining again in Southern California! The guys out in front of the Home Depot won't be getting soaked in the rain...

Every American should be outraged! The Barnetts have been fighting the illegal aliens for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was a set-up!
