The consul general of Mexico doesn't take long to identify the number one concern for Mexicans living in Las Vegas. "The economy, the layoffs, because many Mexicans are integrated into the mainstream of society here in Las Vegas," Mariano Lemus said.

Jose Orozco is trying to hang onto his job. "I work, I'm a janitor, I have two kids and a wife," he explains. "I try to work it every day."

Today, he's filling out paperwork for proper identification so he can stay here. "I have friends going all over the United States, leaving from here, Vegas, because there's no more employment here."

But with the shrinking economy also comes a longer wait for people filling out paperwork for a one-way ticket back to Mexico. "Before we used to get ten to twelve people, now we are getting about 26-40 every day," Lemus said.

Mexican Consulate expanding to keep up with need

Adios criminals . . . . . .

criminals?

thats a very prejudiced thing to say.

seeking services through the mexican consualte does not make one a criminal.

per the new consulates. it dont really bother me, but...

i think the US should not permit any new consulates, from any country, until those countries make a database available to the US so that they can cross check those individuals with people with warrants or deportation notices.

until then, no new consulates. make the rolls available. find the rapists, the murderers, DUI'ers. makes sense to me.

Living illegally and working here in the USA is a felony...........hence virtually all illegal aliens being criminals by default.

If said Mexicans are here legally; that is one thing.............

Illegal ones need to be detained prior to being represented by Mx's consulate.

right, and what im saying is that before more consulates open up they should make their info, rolls of people applying for those matricula cards for example, available to the US govt. let them go thru these databases finding these violent criminals.

get them coming out of jail. get them at check points. get them at the counsulate. the counsulte should only be for those residing in the US legally.
