What a stupid, ignorant comment. You're just mad that an illegal alien has accomplished more than you ever could.
I mean, this pisses you off more than an illegal standing in front of the Home Depot, lol.
Maybe what angers people is the fact that there are thousands of brilliant and deserving American (citizen) students in this country who are prevented from seeking higher education because of financial constraints.
It's amazing to me that while I can't just pick up and move illegally to another country, enroll in college, and end up with a scholarship--it's is expected by a certain faction in this country that just this sort of outrage should be the status quo in the United States.
I'm an accomplished student. I acquired my B.A. with a GPA of 3.93. (On grants and loans--which I will have to repay) Where is my scholarship? Why do I have to go into debt for the next 10 years in order to receive my graduate degree when there are $50,000 per year scholarships apparently available in the U.S. waiting to be handed out to people who are in this country in flagrant violation of U.S. law?
I'm going to be 50 in the hole myself, and I don't care. This kid hustled his way through a disadvantaged position, and did what none of us can do. People hustle in worse ways to get worse things.
On a side note: this kid is a Hispanic AND an illegal immigrant, and he's an upstanding student attending Harvard???
What is this kid? A freak of nature? Shouldn't he be out not learning English, getting girls pregnant, commiting all of America's crime, raping women, drug smuggling? What's wrong with this boy?
Damn skippy it's sour grapes--for every single intelligent, hardworking, AMERICAN student who will not have the opportuntity for higher education because of financial constraints.
I have no problem with the scholarship. I have a BIG problem that it was given to an illegal alien--I don't care if he's Mexican, Finnish, Malaysian, or Lilliputian. Illegal is the operative word here--but don't worry there BK, I don't expect you to comprehend the anger or frustration of American citizens regarding this issue. After all, in your world--it all depends on what the definition of illegal is....and you are using a completely different dictionary than the rest of us.

The scholarship was given regardless of immigration status, so i'm sure there are tons of scholarships out there that intelligent, hardworking american students can apply for. I don't think anyone on this board contributed to this scholarship fund so stop acting like it's your money.
Great defense for the indefensible . . . . .NOT Kele and every other accomplished American pursuing an education in this country have every right to be angry at funding rewarding criminals with a free ride/education in this country. But of course illegal aliens and DREAMies don't want to deal with that reality.
