Family of injured illegal immigrant shows 'gratitude' by suing hospital
This fall, a jury likely will be empaneled to determine whether Martin Memorial Medical Center was guilty of false imprisonment and kidnapping when it deported Jimenez to his native Guatemala.
Jimenez, an illegal immigrant, was working as a gardener in Stuart when he suffered massive brain trauma in 2000 after the van he was traveling in was struck head-on by a drunk driver.
For the next two-plus years the hospital provided uncompensated medical care for the uninsured Jimenez.
Cost? More than $2 million.
Rich Campbell: Family of injured illegal immigrant shows 'gratitude' by suing hospital? : Columns : TCPalm
Yet another example of those in this country illegally who take kindness for weakness.

The only thing that could make that story worse is if the drunk driver was an Illegal Alien too.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is. After all it's a huge part of their machismo culture. That being said, after the hospital is exonerated of the disgusting charges filed against it, the court should make the slime ball ambulance chasers masquerading as attorneys pay all court costs and fees associated with this farce.
They are as greedy and insane as the scum they represent.

I'd say the hospital sure wasted two million dollars. They are only required to provide stabilizing treatment - not two years worth of free medical care. They should have shipped him right away.

Agreed. Unfortunately, PC BS, illegal aliens, the ethnocentrist and ambulance chasers screaming racist at every turn has systematically removed all semblance of common sense from the equation.

Ditto! What is even more disgusting is the fact that had he been a legal resident, he would NOT have been kept in that hospital without a means for payment. I’m so sick of these ingrate illegal aliens receiving better treatment than U.S. citizens, I could scream.
There is no appreciation whatsoever. The more kindness they receive, the greater their sense of entitlement. This lawsuit is a travesty. Hospitals should stabilize illegals, and then release them to their country of origin. If their country doesn’t want them, so be it. This appalling abuse of taxpayers must end.

If we all screamed at the injustices that Americans are forced to endure in this travesty, it would be the scream heard around the planet. It is indeed their lawlessness, insolence, arrogance and delusions of grandier that is the most infuriating in all of this.
We are treating the discarded trash here illegally from other countries as if they are royalty in America. Is it any wonder we can't get rid of them?

I couldn't agree more! Now more than ever, because of our failing economy, we need to crack down on illegal aliens receiving tax payer sponsored services.

I saw a video posted here on CD where a Martin County hospital representative was speaking before Congress about the money being spent on hospital care for illegals. As I recall, the guy had family in the US who didn't want to be responsible for him, but didn't want the hospital to ship the patient back to his home country. The hospital finally got permission from the home country to send him back home, and sent him back at the hospital's expense. Then the family sued the hospital. As of the time of the hearing, the hospital had already spent $250,000 in legal fees.
