WASHINGTON – Ignacio Carlos Flores-Figueroa, an undocumented worker from Mexico, made a curious and undeniably bad decision. After working under an assumed name for six years, he decided to use his real name and exchanged one set of phony identification numbers for another.
The change made his employer suspicious and the authorities were called in. The old numbers were made up, but the new ones he bought happened to belong to real people. Federal prosecutors said that was enough to label Flores-Figueroa an identity thief.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday on prosecutors' aggressive use of a new law that was intended to strengthen efforts to combat identity theft. In at least hundreds of cases last year, workers accused of immigration violations found themselves facing the more serious identity theft charge as well, without any indication they knew their counterfeit Social Security and other identification numbers belonged to actual people and were not made up.

Well, considering the fact that he's an illegal alien--just trying to do the work no American wants to do, he'll probably get to keep the SS# and the American to whom it actually belongs will be forced to get another, as happened to a woman in California I know whose SS# was being used by 63 illegal aliens. Rather than unravel the mess, the government made her give up the SS# she'd had most of her life in exchange for a new one.
When an American commits identity theft though, they're prosecuted to the fullest extent and tossed UNDER the jail.

This BS really boils my blood! Yet, we are mean-spirited and racists because we don't condone this crap.
Oh yes, well you do know don't you that using the word "racists" works the same as brandishing a sheild? Seems all the illegal alien supporters have to do is say "racist" and all action against illegals comes to a screeching halt. Sickening.

Agreed. But the good news is that many blacks are being victimized by the illegal alien crisis in this country and thus are becoming more involved in turning the tide against illegal immigration. Thus, the race card is quickly losing it's value. Myself, Benicar and AlanBoy are only 3 of many.

He was real specifically chosen for this case. The illegal alien advocacy groups are going to say, "Look! He was only trying to do the right thing and put his real name on the papers! Why are you punishing him?"
Really now, there are thousands of cases of ID theft by illegals, why choose one where the guy gets caught because he is trying to use his real name? This will be turned into another illegal alien pity party.

Add in prim2007, (probably) UrbanQuest and a few other American Blacks here post here from time to time to the list of the pissed.
Trust me: those insolent illegals will keep trying to use their fraudulent 'race card' no matter what.
