The Fremont City Council passed a resolution Tuesday favoring legal immigration and the contribution of legal immigrants to the community. The council will look at an ordinance that requires employers to verify a worker's status through E-verify. It will also have a phase in period and have fines and penalties if employers do not follow it. The council hopes to discuss the ordinance in April and have a vote in June.
