Who cares about the poster's spelling? His message is quite succinct----------our southern border needs to be fortified till Mexico grow up and takes responsibility for its colossal failures as a nation.

Mini bases would suffice. Rotate the duty roster every 3 days or so from a few permanant bases. Have a support network of a few aviation assets such as apache gunships, A-10's etc. Attached toeach unit or minibase will be border patrol agents. We already pay the salary so its cost neutral if we simply transfer soldiers and or Marines from overseas bases. One might ask the question. Why are we defending someone elses borders when our own is unguarded?

We already have numerous bases along the border . . . San Antonio, El Paso, Tucson, San Diego to name a few.

Agreed I like the "Firebase" concept you speak of.

Also, the US Army was the border patrol until 1924 when they created the US Border Patrol. The Army would detain any smugglers or illegals (yes, they had illegal immigration back then albeit on a much smaller scale) and turn them over to the US Customs inspectors that accompanied all US Army patrols on the border.

the usa needs military bases on the border ... the military has to train it's soldiers anyway..... why not kill 2 birds with one stone... all they gota do is cut a road from california to texas and throw up some large fema tents and wala there you have it instant bases. as far as i know the military is fully mobile.... they can train the soldiers on the new road... what a great visual deterrent... it would be good expirence for the troops looking for all those hidden tunnels and flushing out all those illegal mexican drug rings... the troops would be there to be a deterrent not to shoot anybody... would you cross the border if you saw tons of military personal [probably not]... and the troops can hand out enough free basses and taco's so that the mexicans can get back to mexico..... thats gota be cheaper than giving them a free pass to the usa with all the trimmings free medical free welfare it's all about sooner or latter we will be like mexico full of poverty crime ohhh don't let them basses near them taco's they should be fully seperated basses love tacos so do the illegal mexicans..

San Antonio is NOT along the Border. It's about 270 miles NORTH of it.

Having Military Bases on the border will do nothing. You think they are going to back off just because they see a base? and besides Soldiers are ordered not to mess with civillians. and to get to the point. Military action is not needed against Illegal Immigration thats why we have border patrol!

Absolutely. The Minute Men aren't needed either. Let the Border Patrol do their work. So far, they've got MOST of the crossers, and only 20 million or so have slipped through the net.

You start messing around with the 'system', and we might just get 50 million. Let the Border Patrol do their work. Their bosses know the situation, and what works, and what doesn't, far better than we do.
